NCIS Season 22 brings back the established team led by Alden Parker and includes guest appearances by franchise figure Sam Hanna, played by LL Cool J. The season ran for 20 episodes, from October 14, 2024, through May 5, 2025. The available season cast listing identifies several guest performers, but it does not establish that they are new series regulars.
How Season 22 is structured
CBS lists 20 episodes in Season 22. “Empty Nest” premiered on October 14, 2024, and “Nexus” aired on May 5, 2025. The season took a midseason break after “Humbug,” listed for December 16, 2024; “Baker’s Man” followed on January 27, 2025. These dates and episode summaries are from the CBS Season 22 episode guide.

Who is new on NCIS Season 22?
“New cast” can mean a guest performer, a recurring character, or a newly promoted series regular; those are not interchangeable. The cited season cast listing names guest performers, but it does not establish that they were new to the show or promoted to regular status for Season 22. It lists Melina Kanakaredes as Eleni Kostakis, Zane Holtz as Special Agent Sawyer, and Donna Mills as Wanda Prescott.
For a season-specific guest appearance connected to the wider franchise, CBS’s “After the Storm” summary says the team seeks help from Sam Hanna. The cast listing identifies Sam’s performer as LL Cool J. CBS’s summary establishes Hanna’s involvement in that story; it does not make him a regular member of the original NCIS team.

Where the series fits
The original NCIS follows investigations tied to the Navy and Marine Corps. CBS describes its current unit as led by Parker, with McGee, Torres, and Knight in field roles and Palmer and Hines providing medical and forensic support. That overview is current series context; for the Season 22 cast names, the season-specific listing is the more direct reference.
