Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady, said it was dropped because of her political views; sources cited by Variety and Vanity Fair instead pointed to her controversial comments and reported hate speech. CBS Studios did not publicly state an official reason in the reporting reviewed.
What was the proposed revival?
The project was intended to follow the original Brady children as adults. It was a proposed revival—not a commissioned season, a completed series, or a show that aired. In an October 2024 report, Variety said the project was set up at CBS Studios and had been considered roughly two years earlier. It had not been pitched to any network or streaming service, and the report said it was unclear whether a script had even been written.

Why was the project reportedly dropped?
Susan Olsen’s explanation
Olsen said the revival was dropped because of her political views, including her support for Donald Trump. That is her account of why the project ended.
What sources close to the project reportedly said
Variety cited sources who said the project was scrapped over Olsen’s reported hate speech, including homophobic slurs that had previously led to her radio-show firing. Vanity Fair also reported that a source close to the project disputed Olsen’s explanation and said the concern was her controversial comments and hate speech.

In 2016, LA Talk Radio announced it had fired Olsen after an online confrontation involving actor Leon Acord-Whiting. The Associated Press, in a report carried by CBS Boston, said Acord-Whiting had posted a screenshot of a message he said Olsen sent. AP also quoted the station’s statement: “We will not tolerate hateful speech and have severed ties with the host.” The quoted report attributes that statement to LA Talk Radio, without naming an individual speaker.
The firing is relevant background to the later reports about why the revival was abandoned. It does not, by itself, establish why CBS Studios stopped the project.
