The premiere gives Agatha a fake Westview detective life, then breaks the spell and sets her on the Witches’ Road. A morgue tag bears Wanda Maximoff’s name, but her face is hidden and the episodes do not confirm that she is dead. Teen’s identity is also left unanswered.
What happens in Agatha All Along episodes 1 and 2?
The two-episode premiere begins as a small-town crime story and turns into a witchy road adventure. Episode 1, “Seekest Thou the Road,” is listed at 42 minutes on Apple TV; episode 2, “Circle Sewn with Fate / Unlock Thy Hidden Gate,” is listed at 44 minutes. The series takes place after WandaVision, and Disney says both episodes launched on Disney+ on September 18, 2024. Episode lengths and catalog details may vary by listing or territory.
Episode 1: “Seekest Thou the Road”
Kathryn Hahn’s character first appears as Agnes, a gruff detective in Westview. She investigates an unidentified body in a story that initially plays like a small-town true-crime procedural. At the morgue, the victim’s tag bears the name Wanda Maximoff, but the show does not show the face.
Agnes’s constructed reality begins to crack. The Darkhold clue and the arrival of Rio Vidal, an old associate, draw the story back toward Agatha’s real identity and past. Agatha has been trapped in Wanda’s spell and stripped of her powers. The Salem Seven come after her, making clear that her old enemies remain a threat.

The detective setup is a deliberate misdirect, not the series’ ongoing premise. Showrunner Jac Schaeffer described the design this way: “So, it was always the design that [‘Agatha’] would start with this true crime episode.” She called the second episode “the actual pilot proper.”
Episode 2: “Circle Sewn with Fate / Unlock Thy Hidden Gate”
With the detective spell broken, the story shifts to Agatha’s plan: assemble a coven and walk the Witches’ Road, a path whose trials promise a reward to those who survive. Teen helps her organize the group, though his name and past remain obscured by magic.

Agatha recruits Lilia Calderu, the Divination Witch; Jennifer Kale, the Potions Witch; and Alice Wu-Gulliver, the Protection Witch. She is wary of enlisting Rio, so she brings in neighbor Sharon Davis instead. The episode ends with the group gathered around the Road’s challenge, while Teen’s identity and Wanda’s fate remain unresolved.
Is Wanda really dead?
Episodes 1 and 2 do not establish that Wanda is dead. The morgue tag is a pointed clue, but it is not proof of who the unseen body is: the face is never revealed, and the story does not confirm the identification. Schaeffer said she could not speak to characters beyond her show and described the “You never know” line as a nod to the Marvel trope of whether anyone is ever really dead. At this point, the responsible answer is that Wanda’s fate is uncertain.

Who is the Teen in Agatha All Along?
The first two episodes do not reveal Teen’s name or background. Magic keeps that information obscured, and the premiere leaves him as a mystery rather than confirming an identity. What the episodes do show is his role in helping Agatha assemble the witches for the Road.

The shift from detective pastiche to coven fantasy is part of the storytelling, not a separate case that continues alongside the main plot. Episode 1 places viewers inside Agatha’s spell-bound version of Westview and dramatizes her awakening from it; episode 2 introduces the coven and the Road that will drive the story. Schaeffer described the series as “a puzzle-box show.”
