Spoilers for Stranger Things 5, Episode 4, “Sorcerer.” Netflix has released a video of the cast reacting to their first table read of the episode, whose climactic reveal is that Will Byers has powers. The video captures the performers’ response to the script; the reveal itself gives their reactions its weight.
Where to watch the Episode 4 table-read video
Netflix Tudum’s official table-read page features the cast reacting to their first read of “Sorcerer.” Netflix flags the page with “Warning! Spoilers ahead!” and names Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, David Harbour, and the Duffer Brothers among those featured.
What happens in the Will reveal
At the end of the episode, Will uses powers to turn the threat against Vecna’s forces and free his friends. Netflix’s account describes him taking control of the Demogorgons and Vecna’s mind. Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, called the moment “the Holy Grail moment” for the character in a Netflix Tudum interview.
Why the Duffers chose Will for the moment
Ross Duffer said the writers wanted a major moment at the end of Volume 1 and identified Will early because he was the child taken in Season 1: “When we were breaking the season, we knew we wanted a big moment at the end of Volume 1 and, very early on, the idea was [that] it’s got to be Will, because he was the kid that was taken in Season 1.”
