In an interview, Light said the story’s supernatural premise appealed to her because it raises questions about death and what might follow it. She also reflected on her long friendship with Crystal and said she would welcome a Who’s the Boss? revival, though she did not know whether her schedule would permit her to take part.
Who does Judith Light play in Before?
Light portrays Lynn, Eli Adler’s deceased wife. Crystal plays Eli, a child psychiatrist whose encounter with a troubled boy connects with his own past. The series uses Lynn as a ghostly or spectral presence, placing Light’s character within the psychological thriller’s questions about loss and the possibility of contact beyond death.

That is the show’s fictional premise, not a real clinical case. ABC News describes Before as an Apple TV+ psychological thriller, and AwardsWatch also identifies Light’s character as Lynn.
Why did the supernatural premise interest Light?
Light has described the story as an opportunity to raise questions rather than provide answers. “I’m just interested in raising these questions,” she said. In the interview, she wondered: “What happens to that energy afterwards?” and “What happens between lives?” She also raised the possibility of reincarnation and reports of spectral encounters, saying, “It’s definitely something I’m open to.”

Those remarks express Light’s personal curiosity; they are not evidence that ghosts, an afterlife, or reincarnation exist. The interview does not establish answers to those questions.
What is Light’s connection with Billy Crystal?
Light and Crystal had known each other for years before they worked together on Before. Their collaboration was their first on-screen pairing, and Light described the experience as special. That prior friendship gives their work as Lynn and Eli a personal history behind the characters’ relationship.

Is a Who’s the Boss? reboot happening?
The interview reported that efforts to set up a reboot at Amazon Freevee had stalled. Light welcomed the possibility of bringing the sitcom back, answering the question of whether she hoped it would be revived with, “I would be delighted.” But she also said she did not know whether her schedule would allow her to participate. Her enthusiasm is not confirmation of an active or completed reboot.
