The Jujutsu Kaisen break extension and Chapter 263 release date are historical: the schedule change was announced on June 24, 2024, and VIZ lists Chapter 263 for July 28, 2024. Shueisha’s current series page says the manga has concluded, so the announcement does not describe a current break or an upcoming chapter.
What changed in the 2024 schedule?
On June 24, 2024, the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department announced that Jujutsu Kaisen would resume in issue 32, rather than issue 31 as previously scheduled. Issue 31 was due on sale July 1; issue 32 was due on sale July 8. The notice explained that Gege Akutami’s health had recovered, but that Akutami and the editors agreed writing should resume only once he was fully recovered. The notice did not disclose a diagnosis or additional medical details. Read the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial notice.

When did Chapter 263 come out?
VIZ’s official English chapter listings place Chapter 263 on July 28, 2024. This is distinct from the Japanese magazine issue date: the editorial notice said the series would return in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 32, on sale July 8. VIZ lists Chapter 262 on July 7 and Chapter 262.2 on July 14 before Chapter 263. VIZ Chapter 262 listing; VIZ Chapter 262.2 listing; VIZ’s Jujutsu Kaisen chapter index.
Why was Jujutsu Kaisen on break?
The editorial department described the pause as a health-related schedule decision. Its Japanese notice says Akutami’s health had recovered, but after discussion with him, the editors decided he should return to writing in a fully recovered condition. That is a translation of the Japanese notice, not an English-language quotation originally published by the department. No diagnosis was disclosed, so further claims about the cause or severity would go beyond the announcement.
