Yes. Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington marry in Episode 7. In Season 3’s finale, “Into the Light,” Penelope publicly reveals that she is Lady Whistledown. The reveal resolves the secret threatening their relationship and, according to Netflix, preserves her family’s place in society.
How Colin and Penelope’s story ends
The wedding happens before the finale, so the final episode is less about whether the couple will marry than whether their relationship can survive the truth about Penelope. Colin has learned that she is Lady Whistledown, whose published gossip has hurt people close to them. He struggles to reconcile his feelings for Penelope with the consequences of her writing.
At the final ball, Penelope stops hiding and tells the ton who she is. Netflix’s recap says she makes the revelation without reproach and that it saves her family’s social standing. The resolution does not erase the harm caused by her column: it gives Penelope a chance to own her choices openly, while Colin must accept that Lady Whistledown is part of the person he loves.
Why Penelope’s public reveal matters
Penelope’s double life has shaped her choices throughout the season. She wants a marriage that will give her independence, including the freedom to continue her work as Lady Whistledown. That ambition becomes the couple’s central conflict once Colin discovers her identity. Netflix’s ending recap and season guide describe the secret and its consequences as central to their story.
#1 Best Overall
By revealing herself, Penelope no longer asks Colin—or the ton—to accept an invented separation between her public persona and private self. Their ending is a romantic resolution, but it also turns on accountability and honesty rather than pretending the secret never mattered.
What happens to Francesca, John, Michaela, and Benedict?
Francesca, John, and Michaela
Francesca marries John Stirling. At the final ball, John’s cousin Michaela arrives, and Netflix says she is headed to Scotland with the newlyweds as they prepare to make a home there. The finale suggests that Michaela may matter to Francesca’s future, but it does not settle what that relationship will become.
Rank #2
Showrunner Jess Brownell described the question as unresolved: “Part of Francesca’s exploration going forward will be about whether or not there is in fact something missing [in her marriage] … You’ll just have to wait to see, going forward, what we do with the addition of Michaela.”
Benedict
Benedict ends the season with a clearer understanding of himself as sexually fluid and does not want to close himself off to a serious relationship. Netflix also says the next masquerade-ball storyline is set up for the following year.

Where the finale fits in Season 3
Season 3 has eight episodes, released in two batches: Part 1 arrived on May 16, 2024, and Part 2 on June 13, 2024, according to Netflix’s season announcement. “Into the Light” is Episode 8. The season’s official premise follows Penelope as she seeks a husband who will allow her independence, while Colin offers to help her gain confidence and their friendship gives way to deeper feelings.
For a related take on Colin and Penelope’s story, Julia Quinn’s novel Romancing Mister Bridgerton is the source Netflix identifies in connection with the carriage scene. That connection does not mean the television season and the book have identical endings.
