2. The White Lotus, season 1 (2021)
As Olivia Mossbacher, Sweeney plays a sharp-tongued college student vacationing with her family at a luxury resort. Olivia’s friendship with Paula and her family’s social tensions make this an incisive ensemble role, quite different from Cassie’s emotional openness. The season is one of the performances associated with Sweeney’s Emmy recognition. Associated Press.
3. The Handmaid’s Tale (2018)
Sweeney plays Eden Spencer, a young woman drawn into the series’ authoritarian theocracy. Her story has a tragic arc involving coercion and death; it is one of the show’s more disturbing character narratives. Choose this for a stark dramatic role, but be aware that the storyline addresses sexual coercion and ends in death. Associated Press.

4. Sharp Objects (2018)
In this limited series, Sweeney appears as a teenager in a psychiatric ward. It is a smaller role than her later breakout parts, but a useful early example of her work in a grim, character-focused drama. The series’ tightly wound mystery and bleak atmosphere make it a good pick for viewers who want a more restrained performance. Associated Press.
5. Reality (2023)
Sweeney stars as Reality Winner in this drama based on the real-life intelligence contractor’s interrogation. The film’s concentrated setting and dialogue-driven tension give her a demanding lead role, distinct from her work in large ensemble shows. Rotten Tomatoes listed it at 93% critics and 66% audience when its profile was accessed in 2026; those scores can change. Rotten Tomatoes.
6. Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019)
Sweeney appears as Snake in Quentin Tarantino’s sprawling period film about Hollywood in 1969. It is a supporting part in a high-profile ensemble rather than a showcase lead, and it offers a glimpse of her in a stylized crime-and-industry story. Rotten Tomatoes listed the film at 86% critics and 70% audience on its 2026 profile; the figures are a changing snapshot, not a measure of Sweeney’s individual performance. Rotten Tomatoes.

7. Big Time Adolescence (2019)
Sweeney plays Holly in this coming-of-age comedy about a teenager caught in the orbit of his irresponsible older friend. It is a lighter counterpoint to her intense dramatic roles, with the story’s humor grounded in messy, recognizable growing pains. Rotten Tomatoes listed the film at 86% critics and 80% audience in 2026. Rotten Tomatoes.

Sweeney plays Bea in this romantic comedy, a bickering-pair story built around a destination wedding, and is also credited as an executive producer. Its reception illustrates why audience scores and critics’ scores are not interchangeable: Rotten Tomatoes listed 53% critics and 87% audience on its 2026 profile. The same profile listed a domestic gross of $88.10 million; Rotten Tomatoes is the attribution for that figure, which should not be read as an independently verified box-office report. Rotten Tomatoes.
9. Immaculate (2024)
In this horror film, Sweeney stars as Sister Cecilia, an American nun who joins a convent in Italy, and is credited as a producer. The role gives her a different kind of central performance, built around escalating dread and religious horror. Rotten Tomatoes listed the film at 71% critics and 58% audience in 2026; those scores may shift. Rotten Tomatoes.

How to read the reception figures
The Rotten Tomatoes percentages above are the critic and audience scores shown on the site’s Sydney Sweeney profile when accessed in 2026. They are time-sensitive scores, not permanent ratings, and neither tells you whether a particular performance will suit your taste. The contrast between Reality (93% critics, 66% audience) and Anyone But You (53% critics, 87% audience) is a useful reminder that professional reviewers and audience members can respond differently to the same film. Domestic gross figures are likewise attributed to Rotten Tomatoes’ profile; its excerpt does not identify the original box-office data publisher.
Her range across film and television
Together, these ten picks show Sweeney moving between serialized television and feature films, and between psychologically intense drama, dark comedy, romance and horror. Her credits also extend beyond acting: she is credited as an executive producer on Anyone But You and The Housemaid, and as a producer on Immaculate. The television roles provide the clearest view of her early rise, while the film choices show the range of genres and responsibilities in her more recent screen work.
