Spoilers for the Season 3 finale: Player 222’s baby survives, wins the final game, and is left with Jun-ho alongside the 4.56 billion won prize. Gi-hun gives his life to ensure the child can live. The finale shows the handoff six months later, but does not establish what happens to the baby after that.
How Player 222’s baby survives
Jun-hee, Player 222, gives birth while badly injured. During the Jump Rope game, she asks Gi-hun to get her baby across. When he turns back for her, she realizes that continuing the rescue attempt could put both Gi-hun and the child in danger. She steps off the platform and dies. The baby then takes Jun-hee’s Player 222 identity, carrying her number into the remaining games. Netflix Tudum’s Season 3 finale explainer recounts the sequence.
Why Gi-hun sacrifices himself
In the final Sky Squid Game, the remaining players must cross three towers and push someone off at each stage. On the third tower, Gi-hun, Myung-gi, and the baby remain. Gi-hun and Myung-gi fight; both go over the edge, but Gi-hun manages to hang on while Myung-gi falls.
Myung-gi’s fall does not end the round: the game’s button has not been pressed, so his death does not count as an elimination under the rules. Gi-hun faces a choice: kill the baby and win, do nothing and let them both die, or give himself up. He chooses to die rather than harm the child. The baby is declared the winner.

Who takes the baby, and what happens to the prize?
As the coast guard approaches, the Front Man evacuates and escapes with the baby. Six months later, he leaves the child and the 4.56 billion won prize with his brother, Jun-ho. That handoff is the last confirmed update the finale provides about the baby’s whereabouts. Netflix Tudum’s account of the finale gives this six-month time jump and the prize amount.
What the finale leaves unanswered
The ending shows Jun-ho receiving the baby and the winnings, but it does not explain whether he formally becomes the child’s guardian, how long he cares for the baby, or what the child’s life is like afterward. The supported answer is that Jun-ho receives them; any claim about the child’s long-term upbringing or future goes beyond what the finale confirms.

What the baby’s victory means
The plot fact is that the baby survives and wins. The symbolism is the creator’s interpretation: Hwang Dong-hyuk said, “Ultimately, the baby represents the future generation.” He also described Gi-hun’s choice as expressing a responsibility to try to leave a better world for that generation. Netflix Tudum’s finale explainer reports those comments.
In a separate farewell interview, Hwang said the baby’s victory was “in line with the meaning of Squid Game” and compared the hope remaining at the end to the last thing left in Pandora’s box. That interpretation frames the ending as a moment of hope, rather than a confirmation of what the child’s future will be. Netflix Tudum’s interview with Hwang includes his remarks.
