Spoilers for the Season 2 finale and later Season 3 developments. No: School Spirits Season 2 does not show Wally crossing over. He sees a glowing door in his scar, but the finale cuts away before he decides. The creators described the door as a reflection of his personal growth—not proof that he was ready to leave. Season 3 later confirms that Wally did not cross at the end of Season 2.

What happens to Wally at the end of Season 2?

In the Season 2 finale, “Fire, Talk to Me,” Wally returns to his scar and sees a glowing exit door. The episode never shows him stepping through it, and it does not reveal what he chooses. The ending is deliberately unresolved, rather than a confirmed farewell. Paramount+’s finale explainer discusses the door alongside the episode’s other open questions.

The finale also leaves other stories in motion: Janet declines to cross through a door in her scar, saying she has unfinished business, while Simon’s appearance in Mr. Martin’s scar opens a separate cliffhanger. Those events add context, but Janet’s choice does not establish what Wally chose.

Why does Wally see the light?

The creators connect the door to Wally’s growth and the work he has done to understand himself. In a post-finale interview with TVLine, executive producer Megan Trinrud said, “It was important for us to acknowledge in that moment that Wally has done so much to, for lack of a better term, work on himself.”

That recognition is not the same as saying he is ready to cross. Nate Trinrud cautioned in the same interview, “It’s big decision and it’s emotional,” adding that “just because you do that, it doesn’t mean that you’re ready to go.” The scene presents the possibility of an exit while leaving Wally’s readiness—and decision—open.

What did the creators say about whether he crossed?

Immediately after the finale, Nate Trinrud did not confirm that Wally had left. Asked directly about his fate, he told TV Insider: “You’re asking all the good questions. But we’re just going to have to see in Season 3, aren’t we?” That answer makes the Season 2 ambiguity explicit: the finale withheld Wally’s outcome.

What Season 3 later confirms

Season 3 spoiler: Paramount+’s March 4, 2026 Season 3 finale explainer says Maddie and Dawn find Wally trapped in a memory in a liminal forest realm. That later story establishes that he did not cross over at the end of Season 2.

Keep the two answers separate: Season 2 ends without showing Wally’s decision; Season 3 supplies the later clarification. The series’ official show information identifies Paramount+ as the streaming service. Availability can vary by region.
