Spoilers for Secret Level season 1, episode 1, “Dungeons & Dragons: The Queen’s Cradle.” Solon escapes the curse meant to make him a sacrifice—but when the cleric Oriel takes the darkness from him, the danger shifts to Oriel. The episode’s final image points toward a confrontation with Tiamat, not a shown victory. Its clearest D&D connection is the Cult of the Dragon’s effort to bring the dragon queen into the world.

What happens at the end of “The Queen’s Cradle”?

The adventurers rescue Solon, a boy marked by the Cult of the Dragon for sacrifice to Tiamat. The darkness haunting him is a curse; Oriel, the party’s cleric, takes it from him. Solon is freed, but that relief comes at a cost: Oriel transforms, and Tiamat’s presence emerges through him.

The rescue therefore becomes a new crisis. The party faces the threat together, but the described ending stops as they prepare to confront Tiamat. It does not show them defeating her or establish what happens after that moment.

Who is Tiamat, and why does the cult want her?

Tiamat is the dragon queen at the center of the episode’s climax. The Cult of the Dragon is not just a group of generic dragon worshippers here: its sacrificial plot and connection to Tiamat echo a major published Dungeons & Dragons storyline.

In Wizards of the Coast’s Tyranny of Dragons campaign, the cult seeks to bring Tiamat into the world. The campaign’s plot involves five dragon masks used in an effort to free her from her prison in the Nine Hells. That published campaign lore helps explain why the episode’s pairing of the cult and Tiamat feels familiar, though the episode’s own story is not described as an adaptation of that campaign.

What are the episode’s Dungeons & Dragons connections?

The Cult of the Dragon and the Tyranny of Dragons storyline

The strongest connection is the shared conflict: the Cult of the Dragon seeks to bring Tiamat into the world. Wizards of the Coast’s campaign places that conflict on Faerûn’s Sword Coast and gives it a broader plot involving the dragon masks. The episode’s cult, intended sacrifice, and Tiamat reveal are clear echoes of those established elements.

What is established—and what is not

Published campaign material establishes the Cult of the Dragon and Tiamat as D&D lore. It does not establish where or when the episode takes place, or whether its events are part of Forgotten Realms history. The connection is best understood as recognizable D&D lore and thematic overlap, not a confirmed place in the campaign timeline.

The campaign book’s details are Wizards of the Coast’s published adventure lore; they are not an explanation attributed to the episode’s creators. No creator statement confirming the ending’s intended meaning or the episode’s canon status is established here.

Is “The Queen’s Cradle” canon?

The available information does not confirm whether the episode is a canonical event in the Forgotten Realms or another D&D setting timeline. Its use of the Cult of the Dragon and Tiamat makes the connection unmistakable, but those familiar elements alone do not prove a specific chronology or continuity placement.
