When did Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom come out?
The film opened in Japan on September 20, 2024. Crunchyroll announced a North American theatrical release for November 8, 2024, in Japanese with English subtitles and in an English dub. These are the announced release dates for those markets, not a claim about every country’s theatrical schedule.
Crunchyroll published its official trailer on September 19, 2024. The trailer’s title promoted the November 8 North American theatrical date, which explains why some coverage framed the movie as upcoming.
What is the movie about?
Jaldabaoth and a demihuman army invade the Roble Sacred Kingdom. Faced with the threat, the kingdom seeks assistance from the Sorcerer Kingdom, ruled by Ainz Ooal Gown. That appeal sets up the story’s central tension: the Sacred Kingdom needs help from a powerful ruler whose interests and methods are not straightforward.

Is there an Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom DVD?
KADOKAWA lists a Japanese standard DVD edition released March 28, 2025 (JAN 4935228213733). That confirms a Japanese physical edition, but does not establish an English-region release or current retailer stock. Before buying an imported disc, verify the listing’s language and subtitle details, region compatibility, seller, and player compatibility. The KADOKAWA product page describes a standard DVD; it does not establish a comparable English-region disc or special-edition extras.

KADOKAWA’s product description states that the Overlord series had “14 million copies in circulation” and that the film’s theatrical earnings exceeded 1 billion yen. The page does not clearly date those figures, so they should be read as statements printed on that product page rather than as dated current totals.
