Start with four spoiler-light clues, then open the clearly marked answer key if you want the full word groupings.
Hints for the August 6 Connections groups
Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four, each linked by a shared idea. These clues follow the puzzle’s yellow-to-purple order:
- Yellow: Decorative adornment.
- Green: To poke fun.
- Blue: In the ring.
- Purple: Flexing.
Those clue prompts are from TechRadar’s August 5, 2025 answer guide; Parade’s August 6 guide offers alternate hints: “Name tag,” “Just joshin’ ya,” “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” and “Think: Arnold Schwarzenegger.” TechRadar and Parade both identify this as puzzle #787.

Spoilers: August 6 Connections answers
The complete groups, in the puzzle’s color order, are:
Rank #2
- Yellow — Accessory with a pointy fastener: BADGE, BROOCH, BUTTON, PIN.
- Green — Tease: BAIT, NEEDLE, RAG, RIB.
- Blue — Boxing punches: CROSS, HOOK, JAB, UPPERCUT.
- Purple — Muscle nicknames plus “S”: SHAMMY, SPEC, SQUAD, STRAP.
The purple group takes a slightly different reading of the words: they are muscle-related nicknames with an added “s.” That explanation follows the category and its entries; it is not presented as an official explanation from the puzzle’s author. TechRadar and Parade’s dated answer guides agree on the group labels and memberships.
