Jingle Bell Heist is a 2025 Netflix holiday romantic comedy about two London workers who team up to rob a department store on Christmas Eve. The caper gives the romance a built-in complication: Sophia and Nick need to trust each other to pull off the job, even as secrets and growing feelings threaten their plan. One review found a story turn surprising, though its praise came with a caveat about the leads’ chemistry.
What is Jingle Bell Heist about?
Set in London, the film follows Sophia Martin and Nick O’Connor, two people under financial pressure who join forces to rob a posh department store on Christmas Eve. Their uneasy partnership develops into a romance, while secrets and deepening feelings put both the relationship and the heist at risk.
Netflix’s official title listing describes the film as a romantic comedy and tags it with con-game and enemies-to-lovers elements. The setup brings those strands together rather than treating the robbery as mere background: the plan requires cooperation, and the developing relationship complicates that cooperation.
Why Sophia and Nick take the risk
Netflix Tudum’s plot background says Sophia moved from Philadelphia to London to care for her mother after a cancer diagnosis and is facing the cost of her mother’s surgery. Nick is a former security consultant now working as a phone technician; after a divorce, he wants money to care for his daughter. These are the characters’ story circumstances, not guidance about medical costs or insurance.

Is it a rom-com or a heist movie?
It is both, with the Christmas Eve robbery providing the caper framework and the romance growing inside the pair’s alliance. Viewers drawn to a holiday crime premise should find the heist central to the setup; those looking primarily for romantic chemistry may weigh the relationship differently. The official description foregrounds secrets and feelings as threats to the plan, so the genres are intertwined rather than neatly separated.
Does Jingle Bell Heist have surprising twists?
Tom’s Guide’s November 27, 2025 review says one twist caught its reviewer off guard and describes the revenge story as satisfying. That is one critic’s reaction, not evidence that most viewers will be surprised or that the film has a consensus reputation. The official Netflix synopsis also signals that secrets come to light, so the appeal of the turns may depend on how much you enjoy a plot that makes revelations part of the caper.

- A Shoe Addict's Christmas
The same review wished the central pair’s chemistry had more spark. That qualification matters for a film selling both romance and robbery: a viewer may enjoy the turn-driven revenge plot while finding the love story less compelling.
Who stars in the film, and who made it?
Olivia Holt plays Sophia Martin and Connor Swindells plays Nick O’Connor. The listed supporting cast includes Lucy Punch, Peter Serafinowicz, Poppy Drayton, Natasha Joseph and Michael Salami. Michael Fimognari directed, and Abby McDonald and Amy Reed co-wrote the film, according to Netflix Tudum’s film guide.

Who is likely to enjoy it?
- Try it if you want a Christmas-set London caper where a robbery and a romance drive the same story.
- It may be less satisfying if you need especially strong chemistry between the leads; Tom’s Guide’s review raised that concern.
- Keep expectations measured if you are watching specifically for a shocking reveal. One reviewer was caught off guard, but that does not establish how other viewers will respond.
Netflix’s Media Center synopsis frames the conflict around secrets and the leads’ changing feelings jeopardizing the job. Those are the clearest guideposts for the film’s appeal: a holiday caper with romantic complications, rather than a straight crime thriller or a romance detached from its premise.
