Terry Silver returns as a live-action antagonist in the Sekai Taikai story. The surprise cameo is separate: a brief digital likeness of Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi appears in Daniel LaRusso’s dream in episode 10, “Eunjangdo.” The two appearances serve different purposes—Silver escalates the tournament’s external conflict, while Miyagi’s image reflects Daniel’s struggle with new revelations about his mentor.
Who comes back in Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2?
Terry Silver is the major returning character in the tournament storyline. His return is a conventional live-action performance and feeds into the conflict surrounding the Sekai Taikai. It is not the same reveal as the Mr. Miyagi cameo.
Part 2 positions Miyagi-Do as an underdog among experienced international teams. The tournament’s pressure eventually gives way to a violent brawl: Silver and Kreese clash, and Kwon falls on the knife Kreese brought. That ending leaves the tournament’s consequences unresolved for the final part.
Is Mr. Miyagi in Season 6 Part 2?
Yes, but only in Daniel’s dream in episode 10, “Eunjangdo.” Daniel dreams that he is competing against a younger Miyagi, played by Brian Takahashi. The dream shifts briefly to the familiar older Miyagi before Daniel wakes.

The scene is an internal character moment, not Miyagi returning to the present-day plot. Silver’s return happens in the tournament storyline; Miyagi’s appearance occurs in Daniel’s dream and is tied to his changing understanding of his mentor.
Was Pat Morita digitally recreated?
The older Miyagi image is a brief digital recreation of Pat Morita’s likeness. Morita did not film new material or perform in the episode. The creators described the appearance as a digital likeness, distinguishing it from the younger Miyagi, who was played by Takahashi.

Why did Daniel dream about Miyagi?
The dream follows Daniel learning unsettling new information about Miyagi’s past—things his mentor had never shared with him. The scene gives Daniel a way to process the tension between his idealized image of Miyagi and the more complicated person he is beginning to discover.

Co-creator Jon Hurwitz said the idea developed in conversations with Ralph Macchio. He framed Daniel’s question as whether new knowledge changes his relationship with Miyagi or instead reveals a fuller, more complicated human past. Co-creator Josh Heald likewise described Season 6 as adding new information about Miyagi after the series had long explored him through his absence. In that context, the dream is part of Daniel’s response, not simply a nostalgic cameo.

The creators connected the scene to both Daniel’s story and their own interest in revisiting Miyagi. Heald called Miyagi and Morita “the beating heart of this series.” Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg said the dream setting gave the team room to imagine what Miyagi looked like at an age Daniel never knew: “We just like the idea of getting a glimpse at Miyagi through Daniel’s dreams because it allows us a little bit of creativity in terms of what Miyagi would look like.”

Hurwitz said the creators and Sony contacted Morita’s estate, and that the family and estate’s interest and approval were necessary for the scene to proceed. As he put it, “If this was a scenario where, you know, Pat’s estate and the family had no interest in it, we certainly wouldn’t have gone down this path.” That is the creators’ account of the production’s consultation and approval; it does not, by itself, resolve broader debates about digital likenesses or consent.
Schlossberg also acknowledged that a digital likeness is not Pat Morita himself. The brief appearance can therefore be understood both as a story device for Daniel and as a creative choice that may raise questions for viewers about using a deceased performer’s image.
