The date has changed before: DC Studios originally announced October 3, 2025, for the film in January 2023. That earlier date has been superseded. DC’s original announcement is useful as schedule history, not as the current release date.
Why has production paused?
On October 5, 2026, DC Studios said production had been temporarily paused while Reeves focused on a family matter. The studio added that Reeves had its full support and that it looked forward to continuing the project. The statement, reported by the Los Angeles Times, gave no restart date. There is no public basis for speculating about the private matter or when filming will resume.

Filming had reportedly begun in London in June 2026, before the pause, according to TheWrap. The pause was reported after the February 2028 date had been set, but its effect on the release timing remains unknown.
Who is in the cast?
Robert Pattinson is returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The reported returning cast also includes several performers from the 2022 film, alongside five reported new additions. Coverage does not confirm the roles of the new cast members, so character assignments should not be treated as established facts.
