Who plays Norma in Palm Royale?
Carol Burnett plays Norma D’ellacourt, Maxine’s relative by marriage. The AP reports that Norma spends multiple episodes in a coma, a circumstance that shapes how her place in the family and its social world is handled. Creator and showrunner Abe Sylvia described the responsibility of writing for Burnett this way: “We now have Carol Burnett playing this role. We need to make sure it is worthy of Carol Burnett.” The AP interview and report also identifies Sylvia as creator, showrunner and executive producer.
What do the costumes add to the show?
The clothes help establish the series’ 1969 setting and its world of conspicuous status. For Season 2 specifically, costume designer Alix Friedberg told the AP that 50–60% of the brightly colored, graphic-print costumes were original vintage designer pieces. That figure applies to this subset of Season 2 costumes, not to every outfit in the series.
