When is Revenge of the Fifth?
It is usually associated with May 5, immediately after May the Fourth, the familiar Star Wars Day pun. The date carries the joke from “Fourth” to “Fifth,” setting up the reference to the Sith. The common usage is described in the Star Wars Day reference page.
Why is it called Revenge of the Fifth?
“Fifth” sounds like “Sith,” turning the title Revenge of the Sith into a date-based joke. The observance is a playful extension of the May 4 pun: where May the Fourth is broadly associated with Star Wars, May 5 is often framed as a Dark Side day for Sith and other villains.
There is no formal rulebook or single required way to mark it. It is best understood as a fan-made occasion, not a franchise-wide event with standardized customs.

Is Revenge of the Fifth an official Star Wars holiday?
No official annual holiday status is established by the available examples. Disney Parks did use “Revenge of the Fifth” in a historical Hollywood Studios event page alongside a Star Wars Day promotion, which described limited-edition pins and themed T-shirts. That documents use of the phrase in an official event context; it does not establish an annual Disney or Lucasfilm holiday, or say that the merchandise is available now. Is it Revenge of the Fifth or Revenge of the Sixth?

Where did Revenge of the Fifth come from?
The phrase circulated among fans, and Victor Medina and Eric Shirley helped promote a dedicated companion site, RevengeOfThe5th.net. In a 2016 interview with Inverse, the site’s creators described it as a tongue-in-cheek companion to Star Wars Day. A secondary reference reports earlier message-board use in 2010 and associates the site with 2012. These accounts do not establish who first used the phrase.
