Fallout Season 2 has already premiered, and all eight episodes are now streaming on Prime Video. The season’s officially advertised premiere date was December 17, 2025; Amazon’s catalog displays some different episode dates, so those listings should be treated as catalog metadata rather than a universal rollout schedule. The story heads into the Mojave wasteland and New Vegas, with Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten and Walton Goggins returning alongside new cast members Justin Theroux, Macaulay Culkin and Kumail Nanjiani.
When did Fallout Season 2 come out, and is it streaming now?
Season 2 is complete and available to stream on Prime Video. The official trailer listing advertised December 17, 2025 as the season’s arrival date. Amazon’s December schedule article refers to December 16 in its summary but lists the season for December 17 in its full schedule. The live catalog displays still other dates for individual episodes, which may reflect time zones or catalog metadata; Amazon’s pages do not explain the differences. Amazon’s viewing guide says all eight episodes are streaming now, while the official trailer listing advertised the December 17 premiere.

Where does Season 2 take place?
The story picks up after Season 1’s finale and follows the characters through the Mojave wasteland to New Vegas. The wider premise remains a post-apocalyptic world two centuries after catastrophe, where people raised in luxurious fallout shelters must confront a violent, unfamiliar surface. Amazon confirms this broad direction; it does not establish that the season directly adapts the plot of the Fallout: New Vegas game.
The series is based on the Fallout game franchise, but its creators have described an approach that does not simply copy one game’s story. Executive producer and co-showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet said: “We knew right from the start that we didn’t want to copy exactly one of the stories from the video games.” Amazon’s update also frames the show as an adaptation of the franchise rather than a one-to-one retelling.

Who is in the Fallout Season 2 cast?
Amazon confirms three returning stars and names three additions for Season 2. Its current series listing also includes other cast members, without establishing every performer’s character assignment.
| Season 2 status | Confirmed names |
|---|---|
| Returning stars | Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins |
| Season 2 additions named by Amazon | Justin Theroux, Macaulay Culkin, Kumail Nanjiani |
| Also listed in the current series cast | Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Frances Turner |
The names and cast information appear in Prime Video’s series listing and Amazon’s Season 2 guide. These sources do not confirm every new performer’s role, so character assignments should not be inferred from the cast list alone.

How many episodes are in Season 2?

The episode titles and catalog-displayed dates are listed above; the discrepancies between those displays and Amazon’s schedule references mean dates should be understood as the catalog currently shows them, not as a single confirmed global release calendar.

In an update dated June 19, 2026, Amazon reported that the first two seasons had drawn more than 100 million viewers worldwide combined. Amazon also said the seasons ranked among Prime Video’s four most-watched seasons of all time during the first 13 weeks Season 2 was streaming. These are Amazon’s own reported figures; the update does not provide an independent audience-measurement methodology. Amazon’s June 2026 update includes the claims and quotes Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, saying: “We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout.”
