Tina Turner’s final concert took place at Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, England, on May 5, 2009, closing her Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour. She ended the night with a two-song encore: “Nutbush City Limits,” followed by “Be Tender With Me Baby.” The commercially released Tina Live! DVD captures a different show on the tour, not the Sheffield finale.

What happened at Tina Turner’s last concert?

The Sheffield show was the closing date of the Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour, which ran from October 1, 2008, to May 5, 2009. The tour archive records 90 performances—37 in North America and 53 in Europe. Tina Turner Online’s tour archive lists the dates and general tour setlist.

In a 2023 retrospective, Tony Pierce identifies the Sheffield performance as Turner’s final concert and describes a 22-song set. She closed the main set with “Proud Mary,” then returned for “Nutbush City Limits” and “Be Tender With Me Baby.” Pierce’s setlist.fm retrospective recounts the show; the Sheffield event setlist corroborates the encore order.

What was Tina Turner’s last song?

“Be Tender With Me Baby” was the final song of the concert. It followed “Nutbush City Limits” as the second and last number in the encore.

Where can you watch the final concert?

NME’s search extract describes highlight footage from the Sheffield finale, but the article itself could not be accessed to verify a working video destination or its current availability. NME’s article listing is the lead for that footage; check that the clip is available and authorized before relying on it.

For a commercially released show from the same tour, the official Tina Turner store lists Tina Live! as a CD/DVD. Its DVD was filmed at GelreDome in Arnhem, Holland, in March 2009—not at Sheffield. The track list includes tour songs such as “Proud Mary,” “Help!” and “Nutbush City Limits.” The official product page identifies the recording location.

How Turner described the final stop

Pierce’s retrospective attributes these remarks to Turner in a BBC interview after the last tour stop: “We had the greatest show,” she said. “It was really wonderful. But the next day me, my husband Erwin and my cook got on the plane and I took a deep breath and said, ‘this is it, I’m not going back for anything.” The quotation is reproduced as it appears in the retrospective; an accessible BBC transcript is not available for independent comparison.

Turner also reflected on the tour’s conclusion in a statement quoted on the official store page: “I have been overwhelmed, astounded and taken to new heights by the reaction of the thousands of fans who came to see me every night. This has been a tour to remember, to hold dear in my heart and what way to celebrate my 50 years in the business, to sum up; it’s been super!”
