That is useful when the person sending the music and the person receiving it do not use the same app. Apple Music has its own direct links to Apple Music content, but the Apple sources cited here do not describe the same recipient-facing choice of competing services.
What TIDAL’s shared links do
TIDAL Support says a shared link opens a web page where the recipient can select from different music services to access the track, album, or artist profile. TIDAL describes this as cross-platform sharing; it does not publish a definitive list of every destination service in the cited guidance. Its support article was updated March 12, 2026. How to create one
- In the TIDAL app, open the now-playing screen, or navigate to an album or artist page.
- Open the share menu and copy the link.
- Send that link. The recipient opens the web page and chooses a listed service.
TIDAL says there is no limit to how many tracks, albums, or artists users can share. It also says the person sharing cannot currently see how many times a link has been accessed.
Can I share a TIDAL song with someone who uses Apple Music?
You can send the TIDAL shared link to someone who uses Apple Music. The documented experience is that the recipient opens the link and chooses a service from those shown on the page. TIDAL’s guidance does not guarantee that Apple Music—or any particular provider—will appear for every item or recipient, so check the actual destination choices on the page rather than assuming a fixed list.

Does Apple Music have “Universal Links” like TIDAL?
These are two different uses of “link.” Apple’s developer term Universal Links means standard HTTP or HTTPS links that can open associated content in an app or fall back to a website, depending on whether the app is installed and the browsing context. Developers must associate their website and app and handle incoming links. This describes how a URL routes between a website and its app; it does not, by itself, provide a chooser among music services. Apple Developer: Allowing apps and websites to link to your content.
Apple Music’s documented artist links
Apple Music for Artists provides direct links to songs, albums, and playlists on Apple Music across devices. Its Marketing Tools also include an embeddable player and a field for an affiliate token when applicable. Those are Apple Music promotional tools, not evidence of a page where listeners select between competing music services. Apple Music for Artists: Apple Music Marketing Tools.

How the two link experiences differ
| Aspect | TIDAL shared links | Apple Music tools described by Apple |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient destination | A web page presenting different music services for the recipient to choose from, according to TIDAL Support. | A direct link to Apple Music content, according to Apple Music for Artists. |
| Documented purpose | Sharing tracks, albums, or artist profiles across services. | Promoting Apple Music content with links, embeds, and badges. |
| Technical meaning | A cross-service music-sharing flow; TIDAL does not call it Apple Universal Links. | Apple Universal Links are a separate app-and-website routing mechanism. They do not specify a cross-service music chooser. |
| Link access counts | TIDAL says the person sharing cannot currently see the number of accesses. | The cited Apple Music for Artists page does not state a comparable link-access count feature. |
Why I hope Apple Music follows
A direct Apple Music link works when the recipient wants Apple Music. A service-choice page solves a different friction: it lets the recipient use a service they already prefer, without asking the sender to guess which app they have. That makes TIDAL’s documented approach practical for sharing music across app boundaries.
The available Apple documentation establishes that artists can promote Apple Music content with direct links and embeds. It does not establish that Apple Music offers TIDAL’s cross-service choice page, nor does it prove that no such option exists elsewhere. I hope Apple adds an equally straightforward recipient-facing choice, while retaining its direct links for listeners who want to open music in Apple Music.
