Tina Knowles said she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in 2024. She discussed the diagnosis publicly in April 2025 while speaking about her memoir, Matriarch: A Memoir. At that time, the Associated Press reported she was cancer-free after surgery and treatment; the reports do not establish her health status today.

What stage breast cancer did Tina Knowles have?

The Associated Press reported in April 2025 that Knowles had been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer the previous year, in 2024. Her disclosure was part of coverage of Matriarch: A Memoir and her conversations about the diagnosis and recovery.

The AP reported that she was cancer-free after surgery and treatment when its story was published. The Los Angeles Times described her as in remission in its April 2025 interview. Those are reports of her status at the time, not confirmation of her current health.

Did Tina Knowles say she missed a mammogram?

Yes. In an April 22, 2025 report, Good Morning America quoted Knowles reflecting on a mammogram she missed during the COVID-19 period. She said: “We can catch cancer at stage 1 or even stage 0, I didn’t know there was a stage 0, I could have caught this at stage 0 if I had not missed my mammogram but I did because of COVID.”

That was Knowles’s personal reflection about her own experience. It does not establish what would have happened in another person’s case or replace individualized screening guidance from a clinician or public-health authority.
