7NEWS reported that Ford filmed most of her scenes with James Stewart, Kyle Shilling and Kirsty Marillier. Montana is present as Rose and Mali argue. Ford also had to rein in the heightened facial expressions and mannerisms she used in her online comedy so they suited the television scenes.
When did the cameo air?
PerthNow reported that Ford’s debut was scheduled for 7pm on 19 February 2024. 7NEWS said Australian viewers could watch Home and Away on Channel 7 and 7plus at the time. How did Millie Ford move from TikTok to acting?
Ford had worked in marketing before making entertainment videos during the 2021 lockdowns. Her parody performances attracted an audience, and she left her corporate job to pursue creative work full time. PerthNow reported that she had decided to try acting and found an acting agent and creative representative.
Before Home and Away, Ford had appeared on the Australian series Bump. Her representative’s profile and the AACTA Festival profile also list Beauty and the Geek among her television credits.
Ford described the soap as a major opportunity in the 7NEWS interview: “It’s such a high-quality iconic show so I was like, ‘If this is all I ever get to film, this is an amazing opportunity’.”

Montana’s job gave Ford a direct bridge between her online persona and a scripted television role: she was playing an influencer, but had to adapt her performance for the scene rather than rely on the broad expressions and comic mannerisms of short-form parody videos. The casting was also part of Ford’s stated effort to pursue acting, rather than simply an appearance as herself.
