The planned Kong avatar, single-player experience and multiplayer features should therefore be read as announced plans, not as proof that they launched.
What The Sandbox announced
On October 24, 2024, The Sandbox announced King Kong of Skull Island as its first major collaboration with the franchise. The introduction was tied to Brawlers Ring, the second park in the platform’s AdventureWorld virtual amusement-park neighborhood, and a sale of LAND in that park. The Sandbox’s announcement described the collaboration and sale, while GamesBeat’s October 25, 2024 report called the partnership multi-year. The official announcement did not disclose a partnership duration or financial terms.
The announced roadmap included a collection of playable, titan-sized Kong avatars, exclusive experiences, a single-player story inspired by Kong’s 1933 rampage in New York, and later multiplayer features with Kong-versus-Kong showdowns. These were plans described at announcement time; the available status information does not establish that each feature was released.
Is the King Kong experience playable now?
The Sandbox’s current King Kong of Skull Island experience listing identifies it as a single-player experience, names the partner account and shows a last update of March 23, 2026. It still gives the opening date as “Coming soon.” On that evidence, the experience should not be described as currently playable.

The listing also displays a 4.3 rating and about 21.2K views. Those are changing figures on the platform page, not independently audited measures of audience size, performance or the partnership’s success.
What was in the Brawlers Ring LAND sale?
The October 2024 announcement listed 141 Standard plots and 7 King Kong of Skull Island Premium LANDs. It also identified 3 Estate auctions and 5 one-by-one LANDs reserved for auction. These are sale quantities reported at the time, not a statement of present inventory or availability.

The Sandbox’s wording at the time was: “All LAND owners in Brawlers Ring will receive custom-branded King Kong of Skull Island x The Sandbox boxing gloves!” That describes the 2024 offer; it does not confirm that the sale, bundle or benefits are still available. The book can be identified as the King Kong of Skull Island book by Joe DeVito, but the exact edition, format and current retailer availability have not been established. The original announcement does not verify that an autographed copy or LAND bundle is currently sold through Amazon.
What has been said about the collaboration since launch?
In a January 22, 2025 retrospective, The Sandbox placed King Kong of Skull Island in Brawlers Ring and said ape-sized avatars and a new experience were expected in 2025. That was a forward-looking statement at the time, not evidence of completion. The current “Coming soon” status on the experience listing is the more direct indicator of its displayed opening status.

The retrospective also said The Sandbox had more than 800 brands and partners in 2024. That is company-reported platform context, not a measure of this particular partnership’s reach or results. No independent partnership performance statistic is established by the cited material.

The franchise’s licensing page says DeVito ArtWorks, LLC controls rights to Merian C. Cooper’s King Kong, Skull Island, The History of Skull Island, King Kong of Skull Island, and derivative works in the King Kong/Skull Island universe described there. That statement is limited to the rights and universe specified on the page; it should not be generalized to every King Kong adaptation or every use of the character.
