What happened at Soldier Field
The Rolling Stones played Chicago’s Soldier Field on June 30, 2024, during the Hackney Diamonds tour. Wilson opened the show before joining the band later in the evening for “Dead Flowers,” according to Rolling Stone Deutschland and Relix.
The reported set list placed “Dead Flowers” after “Shattered.” Relix describes the song as a “Sticky Fingers” favorite, tying the performance to the Stones’ 1971 album.
How the surprise collaboration came together
JamBase reported that Mick Jagger introduced Wilson as a surprise guest and asked what they would perform. Wilson chose “Dead Flowers,” and the singers traded verses. This is a reported account of the onstage exchange, not a verified transcript.

Why “Dead Flowers” fits the moment
“Dead Flowers” appears on Sticky Fingers. Its country inflection gave Wilson, a country artist, a natural part in the performance: she and Jagger could share the song by trading verses rather than treating the guest spot as a separate opening number.
