Today’s NYT Strands is the Wednesday, June 11, 2025 puzzle, game #465. Its theme is “If you build it …”. Use the clues below to work toward the spangram, then open the answer section only when you’re ready for the full reveal.

Hints for the June 11 Strands puzzle

Try these clues in order; each one narrows the search without giving away the complete answer set.

  1. Theme: “If you build it …”
  2. Nudge words: BRAT, ARCH, BARB, SALTS, and LAST are words you can find to unlock the in-game hint system.
  3. Spangram length: 12 letters.
  4. Spangram location: It runs from the left edge to the right edge across row five.

Answers for Wednesday, June 11

Spoilers below: the spangram and all theme words are listed here.

Reveal the spangram and theme words

Spangram: ARCHITECTURE

Theme words: REVIVAL, DECO, BAROQUE, BRUTALIST, CLASSICAL

The words name architectural styles: Baroque, Brutalist, Classical, Deco (Art Deco), and Revival. ARCHITECTURE is the category that connects them.

How the answers fit the theme

The theme’s unfinished phrase points toward building and design. The five shorter answers are styles of architecture, while ARCHITECTURE names their shared subject. In the grid, the theme answer appears as DECO rather than the full phrase Art Deco.

Hint mechanics and difficulty

According to TechRadar’s description of the game, the spangram identifies the theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. The outlet also says that if an in-game hint is active, using a hint can show the letter order of that word. TechRadar rated this puzzle “Moderate” and reported solving it with one hint; those are its own rating and experience, not a universal difficulty measure.

One player’s reaction

One player in the June 11 discussion wrote: “I didn’t know what to make of the hint, and when I found BAROQUE in the corner it didn’t help me, nor did REVIVAL in the other corner.” It is an individual reaction, not a measure of how most players found the puzzle.
