#1 Best Overall
- Yellow — ENJOY: APPRECIATE, DIG, FANCY, LIKE.
- Green — BLOCKBUSTER: HIT, SENSATION, SMASH, SUCCESS.
- Blue — CAMPAIGN SWAG: BUTTON, HAT, SHIRT, STICKER.
- Purple — WORDS AFTER “COPY”: CAT, EDITOR, PASTE, THAT.
Why the purple group works
Each word completes a familiar phrase beginning with “copy”: COPY CAT, COPY EDITOR, COPY PASTE, and COPY THAT. BUTTON may initially seem to fit COPY BUTTON, but in this puzzle it belongs with the campaign merchandise group.

The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as a word game: “Players are given 16 words and must find groups of four items that share something in common.” The game is free to play without registering or signing in, through the NYT Games site and apps. A new puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone.
The NYT Connections archive reaches back to June 12, 2023. The Help Center says archive access is available to All Access and Games Subscribers. Playing an archived puzzle affects certain stats, but not current or maximum streaks; a completed archive puzzle cannot be replayed.
