To Be Hero X has a superhero premise where public belief does more than shape a hero’s reputation: it can grant or remove their abilities. Trust Value turns that belief into a ranking, and a tournament for the top heroes makes those rankings changeable. That is the confirmed story engine—not a verified Season 2 format.
How trust becomes a superpower
The official TO BE HERO X site describes a world where people’s belief can give a hero specific abilities. Its example is direct: if people believe someone can fly, he will fly. Public faith is not just applause or admiration; within the show’s fictional rules, it can become a source of power.
The reverse is possible, too. If a hero loses public trust, their special abilities can disappear. That makes reputation a practical vulnerability: a hero’s standing with the public can affect what they are capable of doing.
What Trust Value and the tournament do
The series quantifies trust as Trust Value, which determines the heroes’ rankings. Every two years, a tournament is held for the top heroes. Their performances update Trust Values and rankings, according to the official series description.

| Mechanic | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Public belief | Can grant a hero a specific ability |
| Loss of trust | Can take special abilities away |
| Trust Value | Quantifies trust and determines rankings |
| Every-two-year tournament | Performance updates Trust Values and rankings |
Together, these rules form a feedback loop: a hero’s actions influence public perception; that perception affects power and status; then the tournament gives status a visible contest and a route to change. The result is more than a leaderboard attached to a superhero story. The ranking system is tied to the characters’ capabilities.
Why that premise could matter for a second season
If a second season is made, the trust-and-tournament system offers a built-in source of conflict: heroes could be competing not only to win, but to preserve the public belief their abilities depend on. That is an interpretation of the established premise, not a confirmed plot or format. The official sources reviewed do not say that Season 2 exists or that it will be a tournament arc.

The hook is also distinct from a conventional setup in which powers are simply innate or acquired. Here, public belief is a potential cause of power, losing status can carry a physical cost, and competition can alter both rank and capability. Those connections give the premise room to examine how heroism changes when the audience is part of the mechanism.

Those pages establish the project and first-season broadcast details, but do not provide a Season 2 announcement, release date, or format. So the most accurate answer to “What is Season 2’s gimmick?” is that no second-season gimmick has been officially confirmed in these sources; the exciting premise to watch is the series’ existing trust-powered system.
