“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning. My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family.”
PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan also said the organization’s family was saddened by her passing.

How old was Kultida Woods?
Kultida Woods was 80. The AP corrected an earlier version of its report that gave her age as 78; its corrected report and the PGA TOUR account state she was 80. The correction is documented in the AP report.
Did Tiger Woods reveal his mother’s cause of death?
No. Woods did not give a cause of death or additional details in his announcement. The AP likewise reported that no cause had been disclosed. There is no basis in these reports to infer what happened.

Kultida Woods, who was born in Thailand, supported Tiger’s golf from his junior years and encouraged his Sunday-red tradition, according to the AP. The PGA TOUR described her as a supporter throughout his career; Woods has said she deserved more credit for his success.
In June 2024, at the Bob Jones Award ceremony, Woods said, “My Mom doesn’t get enough credit,” according to the PGA TOUR. In his first public remarks after her death, reported by the tour on February 16, 2025, he called her his “rock” and said, “She meant everything to me and losing her has been a very hard and difficult process to go through.”
Woods also recalled the practical ways she supported him: she drove him to tournaments and insisted that schoolwork came first. “If I didn’t get any homework done, I wasn’t allowed to play,” he said in the PGA TOUR’s February 16 account.
