What Pitt said about the film’s development
Pitt described the project as “10 years in the making” and said, “It wasn’t until we found Ana that we could get it across the finish line.” Those are Pitt’s own characterizations of the development timeline and de Armas’s role in getting the film completed, not independently verified production statistics.
What kind of film is Blonde?
The Netflix film adapts Joyce Carol Oates’s novel of the same name. It is a fictionalized portrait, not a documentary account of Monroe’s life: Netflix’s announcement notes that the story recreates some recognizable episodes while taking liberties, including characters inspired by historical figures and composite characters. Netflix Tudum describes director Andrew Dominik’s effort to adapt the novel; Netflix’s announcement explains the film’s approach to its source material.

How other comments differ from Pitt’s
Pitt’s comments were his own assessment as a producer. Director Andrew Dominik separately praised de Armas’s screen presence, telling Netflix Tudum: “Ana has a certain luminance and an emotional forcefield around her that she can generate a feeling that’s compelling.”
The Monroe estate’s position was also separate. Entertainment Tonight reported a statement from Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group, saying: “Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn’s glamour, humanity and vulnerability.” The statement was based on the trailer and should not be presented as Pitt’s comment or as authorization of the film by the estate.
