What the ranking says—and what it does not
The Deadpool films lead
Deadpool & Wolverine is well ahead of the other titles in this ranking. The two earlier Deadpool films are much closer: Box Office Watch puts Deadpool 2 slightly above the original. FilmDB reports a slightly different order and totals, listing Deadpool 2 at $785.9 million and Deadpool at $782.8 million. For a ranked list, one tracker should be used consistently rather than combining figures from different databases.

Animation and voice roles count
This is a ranking of credited acting performances, including voice work—not just live-action lead roles. That is why animated films such as The Croods and Turbo appear alongside Reynolds’s live-action movies. Pokémon Detective Pikachu is also a substantial entry. The figures measure each film’s box-office performance, not the size of Reynolds’s role.
Gross is not profit or popularity
A worldwide theatrical gross is the reported value of tickets sold across markets. It is not the amount a studio keeps after theater splits and costs, and it does not measure reviews, audience satisfaction, or later streaming viewership. The table is not adjusted for inflation, so it compares nominal dollars from different release years.

Why published totals can differ
Box-office databases may report different totals because their coverage and updates are not identical, and re-releases can affect figures. For example, FilmDB lists Pokémon Detective Pikachu at $450.1 million, compared with Box Office Watch’s $433.1 million; it lists The Croods at $587.2 million rather than $587.0 million. Those differences do not change the broad picture, but they can matter when films are close. The values in the table are the rounded Box Office Watch figures, while the exact leader total comes from Box Office Mojo.

Disney reported that Deadpool & Wolverine had reached $1.086 billion after 23 days and called it the highest-grossing R-rated film at the global box office in its August 16, 2024 announcement. That was a dated milestone, not evidence of the current record holder. Guinness World Records later listed $1,338,071,348 as the film’s gross by January 30, 2025, attributing the figure to The Numbers and noting that record updates can lag. These record figures should not be treated as a current October 2026 ranking without a newer authoritative confirmation.
