The Daily Beast reported on February 7, 2024, that John Robert Nelson was the anonymous lead blogger behind Crazy Days and Nights, writing as “Enty Lawyer.” The report described Nelson as a licensed California attorney, but said it was unclear whether he currently practiced law or had ever practiced entertainment law.

Who did The Daily Beast identify as the blogger?

In a report by Jared Holt, The Daily Beast identified John Robert Nelson as the person behind Crazy Days and Nights (CDaN), the Hollywood gossip blog known for anonymous “blind items.” The blog began in 2006 and later added a podcast, according to the report.

The identification was the outlet’s reporting; it was not a claim that the initial federal court complaint explicitly named Nelson as the blog’s author. The Daily Beast said details in a 2023 Florida court filing, alongside information that aligned with Cassandra Crose’s public claims, helped bring the identity into view.

Was “Enty Lawyer” actually a lawyer?

The Daily Beast described Nelson as a licensed California attorney. That reported credential does not establish that he was actively practicing law when the article appeared, that he had practiced entertainment law, or what his current bar status is. The title “Enty Lawyer” should not be treated as proof of a legal specialty or current practice.

What was the blog’s format and persona?

CDaN published blind items: coded clues, hints, and pointed descriptions that suggest the identities of people without naming them outright. A 2017 Daily Beast interview with the person then writing as Enty Lawyer offers context about the pseudonymous persona and the format, but it predates the 2024 identification and is not confirmation of Nelson’s identity.

In that 2017 interview, Enty Lawyer said, “My site has always been about the underdog and the victims.” The statement reflects how the pseudonymous blogger described the site at that time.

What did the court dispute involve?

The Daily Beast’s February 2024 account described a dispute involving Nelson and Crose, but the claims were contested. Nelson alleged threats and harassment. Crose denied threatening him or demanding money and made allegations of her own in a later filing. These are attributed claims, not findings of fact.

According to The Daily Beast, Nelson’s initial federal request for an injunction did not allege facts sufficient to support a claim, and the complaint did not comply with federal court procedures. The article said that initial case was closed on December 5 and that Nelson had filed a new case in Pinellas County, Florida, which was pending when the report was published. That is a historical account of the status reported in February 2024, not confirmation of the case’s status today.

What is established—and what remains unclear?

  • Reported identification: The Daily Beast named John Robert Nelson as the person behind CDaN.

  • Not established by that report: Whether Nelson currently practices law, whether he ever practiced entertainment law, or his present bar status.
  • Dispute: The parties made contested allegations; the article’s account of them should not be mistaken for judicial findings.
  • Case status: The Pinellas County case was described as pending in February 2024; that report does not establish its current status.
