Spoilers for Arcane season 2, including the Warwick/Vander reveal and finale visuals. The clearest League of Legends callbacks are woven into the story rather than presented as a checklist: Janna’s temple gives Zaun a history, Ekko’s finale design hints at the champion he will become, and Warwick’s look connects a familiar game figure to Vander. These are selected, production-supported examples—not a complete official count or ranking.
Arcane is based on League of Legends and made by Riot Games with Fortiche Production, but it tells a character-led story rather than replaying the games’ events. That distinction matters: some season-two details are explicit champion references, while others build the show’s world or visually foreshadow a character’s future. Netflix’s production feature confirms the design connections discussed here.
Janna’s temple turns a champion reference into Zaun history
In season 2, episode 3, Jinx sets a trap for Vi at the ruins of an undercity temple dedicated to Janna, the ancient spirit. Netflix’s production deep dive identifies the temple and describes Jinx’s graffiti there as recording key moments in the sisters’ lives. Netflix Tudum’s season-two production deep dive
League players may recognize Janna as a champion, but the scene’s value is not simply spotting her name. The temple suggests that Zaun’s culture and beliefs predate the sisters’ conflict; the graffiti then brings that history into their personal story. The production feature does not identify every mark or mural as another champion reference, so it is safer to read the site as a confirmed Janna connection rather than decode unnamed images as specific characters.

Ekko’s finale look points toward his League identity
Netflix’s production feature describes Ekko as “not yet the champion we meet in League of Legends” and frames his finale appearance as a visual send-up of who he will become. Green and orange accents and a white hourglass on his head help signal that future identity, while the design also links him visually with Jinx and recalls their season-one fight. Netflix Tudum’s season-two production deep dive
This is foreshadowing through costume and color, not a claim that Ekko’s finale outfit gives him his full game abilities. For viewers who know the champion, the look offers a bridge between the younger character in the series and the more recognizable figure from League.

Warwick’s design carries Vander into the champion reveal
Spoiler: Arcane’s Warwick design connects the game champion to Vander. The production team describes the show’s version as combining wild-animal traits with Vander’s human characteristics, rather than leaning as strongly into the more werewolf-like appearance associated with Warwick in League. Netflix Tudum’s season-two production deep dive
That choice makes the callback do two jobs: it gives League players a recognizable design connection while preserving the emotional weight of Vander’s history in the series. It is an adaptation choice, not evidence by itself for additional claims about exact game canon or Warwick’s eventual fate.

The anomaly scene is worldbuilding, not a confirmed champion Easter egg
In episode 3, Jayce, Ekko and Heimerdinger encounter the anomaly connected to Viktor, and the scene distorts their reality. Netflix’s production discussion addresses the trio’s reaction and the visual treatment of the event. It is useful context for how Arcane depicts Hextech and instability, but the feature does not identify the anomaly itself as a specific League champion Easter egg. Netflix Tudum’s season-two production deep dive
Calling it a worldbuilding connection is more precise than treating every unusual image in the sequence as a hidden game reference.

In-show callbacks and League promotions are different things
Riot also promoted the season with changes and themed content in League itself. Its Nov. 9, 2024 announcement describes Ambessa and a Bridge of Progress ARAM map associated with patches 14.22, 14.23 and 14.24. Those were game tie-ins around the season’s release—not clues hidden in Netflix episodes, and the announcement’s patch window is historical rather than a promise that the features remain available. - Look for production confirmation. The Janna temple, Ekko’s design and Warwick’s design are discussed in Netflix’s making-of feature.
- Separate recognition from interpretation. A color, symbol or strange visual may invite a League connection, but that alone does not establish a specific champion reference.
- Ask what the detail does for the story. The strongest examples deepen Zaun’s history or carry character meaning beyond simply rewarding game knowledge.
