What happened at the Coldplay concert?
During a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, a Jumbotron segment showed Byron embracing Cabot. When they noticed they were on screen, they moved away from the shot. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The joke was part of the moment’s public reaction, not evidence of an affair. The Guardian’s July 18, 2025 report and AP’s July 25 report place the concert at Gillette Stadium, in Foxborough—not Boston proper.
The video showed an embrace and a reaction to being filmed. It did not establish the pair’s private relationship or prove that an affair occurred. Viral circulation magnified the clip: AP, citing Luminate, reported a 20% short-term jump in online Coldplay streams in the days after the clip went viral. The report did not specify the comparison baseline or exact measurement dates. A 2026 retrospective by El País said the clip had accumulated more than 130 million views; that is the publication’s reported figure, not a primary platform-wide count.
Who were Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot?
At the time, Byron was CEO of Astronomer, a data orchestration company, and Cabot was the company’s HR leader. Their roles made the clip a workplace and leadership story as well as a viral concert moment. Online discussion also circulated claims about another person attending the concert. Astronomer denied that Alyssa Stoddard attended, according to The Guardian.

What did Astronomer say and do?
The company announced an investigation
On July 18, 2025, Astronomer said its board had initiated a formal investigation. The Guardian quoted the company: “The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.” Astronomer added: “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.” It also said Byron had not made a statement, correcting reports that attributed one to him. The Guardian’s report documents the company’s statements and corrections.
Byron resigned
On July 19, Astronomer announced that Byron had tendered his resignation and the board had accepted it. The company said, “recently, that standard was not met.” The Guardian reported the resignation announcement. CBS reported that co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy was serving as interim CEO after Byron was put on leave. CBS’s July 24 report describes that transition.

Cabot also left Astronomer
By July 25, Astronomer had confirmed Cabot’s resignation. Company spokesperson Taylor Jones told AP: “Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned.” AP reported her departure; ABC News Australia also reported it. ABC News Australia noted that it was unclear whether the investigation’s outcome would be made public.
Was an affair confirmed, and was the investigation’s result disclosed?
The public reporting cited here does not establish that an affair occurred. The video is not proof of private conduct, and Martin’s quip was a joke, not a finding. Astronomer publicly announced an investigation and Byron’s resignation, then confirmed Cabot had resigned. The sources cited here do not report a disclosed final investigation finding. ABC News Australia said the outcome’s public status was unclear.

In a July 9, 2026 retrospective, El País reported Cabot’s account: she said she had not been unfaithful and that Byron had told her he was separated. The article did not confirm or deny the status of Byron’s marital separation; Cabot’s account should not be treated as independent verification of it.
El País also described Cabot’s reported ongoing harassment and career disruption, and her appearance on a podcast in March 2026. Those are accounts attributed to Cabot and the publication, not independently established details about Byron. The distinction matters: the clip, Astronomer’s public announcements, and Cabot’s later account each establish different things.
