Spoilers for the Season 3 finale. Player 222, Jun-hee’s newborn, wins the final game—but only because Gi-hun protects the baby and ultimately gives up his own life rather than let Myung-gi kill her. The ending makes the baby the rule-bound winner and Gi-hun the story’s moral hero, while the final image suggests the games may continue beyond Korea.
Who wins Squid Game?
Player 222—the newborn child of Jun-hee—is the winner of Season 3’s final competition, Sky Squid Game, and receives the prize of 4.56 billion won, according to Netflix Tudum.
How the final game works
The competition takes place across three towers shaped like a square, triangle and circle. To advance, players must push at least one participant from each structure. On the second and third towers, someone must press a button at ground level to start the round; a death outside an official round does not count. Those rules are crucial to the outcome.
Gi-hun shields the baby through the early stages. On the third tower, only Gi-hun, Myung-gi and the baby remain. Myung-gi tries to kill the infant, and Gi-hun fights him. Both men fall, leaving the baby as the only surviving contestant and the official winner.

Why Gi-hun’s choice matters
The baby wins under the game’s rules, but Gi-hun makes the decisive moral choice: he refuses to save himself at the infant’s expense. The distinction matters. The prize goes to Player 222; the sacrifice that makes her survival possible belongs to Gi-hun.
What does the ending mean?
Creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk has said the baby represents the future generation. He described the point of Gi-hun’s journey as a warning against pursuing immediate self-interest without restraint, sacrifice or cooperation: “if we don’t put our heads together, we have no future,” as quoted by Netflix Tudum.

That is Hwang’s stated intention, not a rule of the plot: the infant’s victory is the literal outcome, while hope and responsibility for those who come after us are the theme he says he wanted to convey. The ending also leaves room for a darker reading. A child symbolizes the possibility of a better future, but the world that forced the adults into the game has not visibly changed.
What happens in the epilogue?
Six months later, the Front Man leaves the baby and her prize with his brother, Jun-ho. He then takes Gi-hun’s remaining Season 1 winnings to Gi-hun’s daughter, Ga-yeong, in Los Angeles, and tells her that her father has died. The sequence gives the baby a guardian and brings Gi-hun’s family story into the finale, even as the circumstances of his death remain painful for those he left behind.

What does the final scene of Squid Game mean?
As the Front Man drives away, he spots a well-dressed woman playing ddakji with a distressed man. The image echoes the recruitment method seen earlier in the series and implies that someone is still recruiting players for another game, this time beyond Korea. It does not, by itself, establish where the games will take place or that the story will continue in another season.
Actor Lee Byung-hun, who plays the Front Man, described the ending’s bleakness this way: “Despite all the noble efforts of so many people, the world still continues as it was before,” as quoted by Netflix Tudum. The closing image can therefore sit alongside Hwang’s hope for the next generation: Gi-hun’s act offers a moral possibility, but the system appears ready to carry on.

Is Squid Game coming back for Season 4?
Netflix has described Season 3, Episode 6 as the planned series finale; the main series will not return for Season 4, according to Netflix Tudum. That does not resolve every question raised by the ddakji scene. It means the scene functions as an unsettling final suggestion rather than confirmation of a fourth season.
