Some viewers called the exchange “strange and awkward”; reports do not establish why Henry responded that way.
What happened during the interview?
Pulisic, who scored Milan’s early goal, spoke with CBS Sports’ post-match panel of Kate Abdo, Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. Reports say Henry was invited to ask Pulisic a question and answered “no.” Goal reported that Henry was looking down at notes when he replied. Thick Accent’s account and Goal’s report describe the exchange; another report also recounts the moment and its reception.
The precise timing and full conversational context are not confirmed in the available secondary reports, and the original CBS broadcast was not available for verification. The reported “no” is the central detail behind the reaction, not evidence by itself of what Henry meant.
Why did viewers call it “strange and awkward”?
A fan post attributed to USACFC on X on September 17 described Henry’s conduct as “Just flat weird behavior … Strange and awkward.” Coverage repeated that wording, which is an individual viewer’s reaction rather than an established assessment of Henry’s character or intent.

Some viewers interpreted his response as dismissive or arrogant. Others speculated that he might have felt uncomfortable with questions about the US national team after Milan’s defeat, or simply did not want to pile on a disappointed player. Those are competing audience interpretations; the reports do not confirm any of them as Henry’s reason.
What did Pulisic say after the loss?
Thick Accent reproduces Pulisic as saying: “It was a good start to the game to get a goal, but yeah it’s extremely disappointing for us to concede goals like we did in the first half on set pieces. They made it difficult for us all game, so obviously I’m disappointed.” Because the original broadcast was not available to check, treat this as wording reported by that outlet rather than a verified transcript.

What is known—and what remains unclear
- Known from the reports: The exchange followed Milan’s 3–1 loss to Liverpool; Pulisic had scored for Milan, and he spoke to the CBS Sports panel afterward.
- Reported: Henry declined when prompted to ask a question, and Goal says he was looking at notes.
- Not established: Why Henry chose not to ask a question, or whether his response was intended as a snub, criticism or something else.
The reports agree on the match setting and the broad exchange, but they are secondary accounts, not the complete broadcast or Henry’s own explanation. There is no basis in them for claiming a personal feud or a deliberate slight.
