The Christmas-season display portrays the journey of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph to Bethlehem through colorful lights. The Shrine identifies 2026 as the event’s 57th year, but its current event page does not yet confirm hours, admission arrangements, or a full activity schedule.
When is the Way of Lights in 2026?
The organizer lists the 2026 season as November 20–December 31. The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows calls it the event’s 57th year. Check the official Way of Lights page for updates as the season approaches.
Where is the Way of Lights?
The display takes place at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, 442 S. DeMazenod Drive, Belleville, IL 62223. The Shrine’s listed phone number is 618-397-6700. The City of Belleville describes the Shrine grounds as 200 acres; that figure refers to the campus, not the size of the light display. See the City of Belleville resource directory for its venue listing.
What to expect from the display
The event tells the story of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem through a Christmas light display. A TripSavvy guide updated November 28, 2022 described a drive-through format and reported more than 1.5 million lights, but those are historical details—not confirmation of the 2026 format or display. Confirm the current experience with the Shrine before setting out.
