Taylor Swift and Diplo had a brief public social-media spat in November 2014—not a well-documented, sustained personal feud. Diplo posted a body-shaming tweet about Swift, Lorde publicly defended her, and Diplo later described the episode as a mistake. The available reporting does not establish that Swift herself publicly confronted him.
What started the dispute?
On November 12, 2014, Diplo posted: “Someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty”. The Guardian reported the tweet the following day. Its target was Swift’s appearance, making it a public insult rather than evidence of a private disagreement.

The Guardian’s November 13, 2014 report documented the post and the response that followed.
How did Lorde respond?
On November 13, Lorde replied to Diplo: “@diplo should we do something about your tiny penis while we’re at it hm”. Her post was a public defense of Swift. The exchange shows Lorde and Diplo trading remarks; it does not show Swift entering a direct public exchange with him.

- Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released worldwide October 3, 2025
What did Diplo say about the backlash?
In a January 2015 GQ interview, Diplo discussed the reaction to his internet comments. He said Swift’s fans had reacted harshly, described himself as a Swift fan, and expressed regret that the controversy had displaced coverage of his music. Those are Diplo’s retrospective claims, not independently established measures of the response. E! summarized his description of the Twitter episode as “really dumb.”

Why did Diplo later call it a mistake?
In a December 2015 British GQ interview about Twitter feuds, Diplo said he had tried to stop getting into them. He described his exchange with Lorde as joking and said: “One of the biggest mistakes of my career was definitely fucking with her.” This was his retrospective characterization of crossing Swift, not proof of an ongoing dispute between them.
Diplo also said of Lorde: “I definitely didn’t go after Lorde [who defended Swift] because she’s my friend and she’s a young girl and the one person I kept it cool with.” The context matters: his comments distinguish his relationship with Lorde from his regret about provoking Swift.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Were Taylor Swift and Diplo actually feuding?
“Feud” is an overstated label for what these sources document. The public record described here establishes Diplo’s insulting tweet, Lorde’s intervention the next day, and Diplo’s later comments about the backlash and his regret. It does not establish a sustained personal conflict, a continuing private dispute, or Swift’s own account of the episode.
