The available record points to a relationship timeline, not a substantiated scandal: Casper Van Dien’s first reported marriage ended in 1997, he married Catherine Oxenberg in 1999 and filed for divorce in 2015, and a biographical summary lists a marriage to Jennifer Wenger in 2018. The record does not establish private motives, a final custody outcome, or whether he and Wenger are still married.

What happened between Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg?
What Van Dien said before the divorce filing
In a TV Guide interview published May 26, 2006, Van Dien discussed making the marriage work. He said, “Well, we’ve been through a lot, but we’re honest now,” and added, “We have a great marriage because we work at it, and that’s key.” Those comments document his perspective at that time; they do not explain what happened in the relationship’s later years. In a 2008 interview with Tele 5, Van Dien also spoke warmly about Oxenberg and their family. He said, “Das Wichtigste ist, dass man sich selbst gegenüber ehrlich ist”—“The most important thing is to be honest with yourself.” The English wording is a translation of the German original. What was reported in 2015
TMZ reported on September 25, 2015, that Van Dien had filed for divorce from Oxenberg in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. The report, which attributed its details to divorce documents, said he requested joint legal and physical custody of their two daughters. These are details of a reported filing and requested arrangement—not proof of a final divorce judgment or the custody arrangement that followed. TMZ’s report

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the record support calling his personal life “shockingly messy”?
No. The sourced facts support an attributed marriage timeline, Van Dien’s comments about his marriage in 2006 and 2008, and a reported divorce filing in 2015. They do not substantiate claims about infidelity, abuse, motives, or the final custody outcome. A divorce filing is not itself evidence of those allegations, and the earlier interviews should not be treated as explanations of the later separation.
