Is it an official Activision remaster?

That means “remastered” in the project’s title should not be read as a publisher announcement. The sources also do not establish licensing or the project’s current distribution arrangements.
Did Matt Groening confirm that the original game is coming back?
Not conclusively. In an August 2026 report, PC Gamer recounted Simpsons creator Matt Groening saying, “I think the original game is coming back in some form,” followed immediately by showrunner Matt Selman’s “Or not.” The report describes the exchange as disputed; it is not confirmation of a remaster in development, a release date, or supported platforms.
