In the seasonal audience polls reviewed, The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 led winter rankings, Dandadan Season 2 led two summer surveys, and Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 topped a fall community result. Those are snapshots of particular audiences and questions—not a definitive ranking of every anime viewer’s expectations.
How to read “most anticipated” rankings
Anticipation is measured differently from one poll to another. A survey may ask people to rate their expectations, choose titles they want to watch, or name what they are looking forward to next season. The audience, voting window, eligible shows, and whether people rate or select titles all affect the result.

The polls below are therefore best read by season and source, not combined into a year-wide top ten. They provide useful evidence about interest among their participants, but the sources reviewed do not establish a representative worldwide statistic for the most anticipated anime of 2025.
Winter 2025: The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 led the reported rankings
Infonear’s December 27, 2024 report on its Minna no Ranking poll put The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 first in its winter expectation ranking. The platform reported 219 participants and 595 votes through December 26. These figures describe that poll; they are not directly comparable with the sample information available for the other surveys.
#1 Best Overall
Infonear’s winter top ten
- The Apothecary Diaries Season 2
- Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective — 68.2 points from 21 evaluators
- Guild Receptionist — 65.4 points from 23 evaluators
- Witchy Precure!!: Mirai Days
- Sakamoto Days
- Honey Lemon Soda
- Medalist
- The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You Season 2
- My Happy Marriage Season 2
- Sorairo Utility
A separate winter result from the r/anime community also placed The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 first, followed by Re:ZERO Season 3, The 100 Girlfriends Season 2, and Shangri-La Frontier Season 2. The accessible result did not provide enough detail to compare its sample or scoring method with Infonear’s.
Summer 2025: Dandadan Season 2 topped two surveys
Dandadan Season 2 ranked first in both the summer expectation ranking reported by Shizuoka Shimbun’s Atsumedia and Shingen’s Anikare survey. The agreement supports calling it a standout in those two polls, not the universal summer favorite. The other leading titles appeared in different orders.
Rank #2
Atsumedia’s summer ranking
Shizuoka Shimbun reported that its survey ran from June 1 through June 30, 2025, and that respondents could choose up to three titles. It did not disclose the number of respondents.
- Dandadan Season 2
- My Dress-Up Darling Season 2
- Kaiju No. 8 Season 2
- Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 2
- The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity
- The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4
- Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2
- The Summer Hikaru Died
- Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube
- I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince Season 2
Comments accompanying the results cited enjoyment of earlier seasons, reading the manga, wanting a continuation, and interest in a title’s premise or visuals. These are reasons given in that poll’s comments, not a general account of why anime audiences choose what to watch.

Anikare’s summer top three
Shingen’s June 23 report said the Anikare survey covered 71 summer 2025 anime. Its overall top three were Dandadan Season 2, Kaiju No. 8 Season 2, and The Summer Hikaru Died. The 71 figure is the number of eligible titles, not the respondent count; the report did not disclose how many people participated. It also gave separate rankings by gender.
Fall 2025: Uma Musume led the accessible community result
The r/anime seasonal survey result listed Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 first overall, followed by SPY×FAMILY Season 3 and Kingdom Season 6. It also reported differences by gender. The result page’s body text was not accessible, so its sample size and methods cannot be established from the available information. Treat it as a lower-confidence indication of that community’s pre-season interest, rather than as a directly comparable poll.
Rank #4
What the polls suggest—and what they do not
Returning series and adaptations of familiar material feature prominently in these seasonal results. Some summer respondents explicitly referred to having enjoyed earlier seasons or having read the manga. That is a pattern in these rankings and comments, not proof that sequels are generally more anticipated than new anime.
Differences in survey design matter as much as the order of the names. Infonear reported participants and votes for winter; Atsumedia specified a three-title selection limit but not its respondent total; Anikare disclosed the size of its summer title field but not its participant count; and the fall community result offers less accessible methodological detail. Since those measures are not alike, averaging the lists would create a ranking that no poll actually produced.
