Tony Khan has made pointed remarks about competition and repeated stories he said he could not verify. The distinction matters: an allegation he recounts is not proof that it happened.
What is the feud between Tony Khan and Nick Khan?
“Feud” is a popular shorthand for tension surrounding AEW and WWE, but the available reporting does not establish a confirmed personal conflict between their executives. The clearest evidence is Tony Khan’s own commentary about the companies competing for fans, talent and attention. Some of his remarks concern alleged interactions or business moves; those remain attributed accounts, not independently verified facts.
That distinction is especially important because the two men are often discussed together as rivals with the same surname. The reporting cited here does not provide a confirmed statement from Nick Khan about the “one Khan” anecdote, nor does it settle what the executives’ private relationship is.
What did Tony Khan say about “only room for one Khan”?
In an interview reported by Wrestling Inc. on October 6, 2022, Tony Khan declined to confirm or deny a story that he had allegedly told Nick Khan there was “only room for one Khan” in wrestling. It should not be repeated as a confirmed exchange: Khan did not verify that it happened.

In that same interview, Khan described relations with WWE leadership as having cooled, saying, “I thought we were friends. Actually, I think we used to be friends.” He was speaking about his relationships with WWE leadership generally. The remark is not a direct account of a particular conversation with Nick Khan.
What was the “real war” comment about?
In interviews reported on February 12, 2023, Tony Khan called AEW’s competition with WWE a “real war.” The context was company rivalry and fan interest in wrestling competition and free agency—not confirmation of a personal war between the two executives. WrestleZone and Fightful also reported that Khan discussed allegations of WWE contract tampering, while saying he could not confirm them.

What did Tony Khan say about Nick Khan and NJPW?
Tony Khan recounted hearing a rumor that Nick Khan had contacted New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) about changing its business relationship. Tony said he asked NJPW executives whether the story was true and that they answered yes. But he also made clear he could not verify the underlying account: “I don’t know if that’s true or not. I only know what my business partner alleged to me and what I read on the Internet, and they were both the same thing.”
That qualification is essential. The reporting establishes that Tony Khan told this story and described what he said NJPW executives told him; it does not independently establish that Nick Khan made the call. The allegation should therefore remain attributed to Tony Khan, rather than stated as a confirmed WWE approach to NJPW.

Did Tony Khan later say he took WWE’s counterprogramming personally?
No. In comments reported by eWrestling on November 18, 2025, Tony Khan said he believed WWE counterprogramming was intentional but understood it as part of the wrestling business. He added: “It’s something that is a part of the wrestling business and I definitely don’t take it personally.” Those remarks concern scheduling competition. They do not establish whether his personal relationship with Nick Khan was friendly, hostile or otherwise.
What is known about their relationship now?
The latest relevant comments in the reporting cited here are Khan’s November 18, 2025 remarks about counterprogramming. They do not resolve his personal relationship with Nick Khan, and no direct statement after that date in the cited material settles whether the relationship has changed. It is more accurate to describe the public evidence as a business rivalry with disputed or unverified anecdotes than to claim that a personal feud is ongoing—or that it has ended.
