The principal cast of Superbad went on to work across film, television, theater, music and filmmaking. Jonah Hill and Michael Cera played best friends Seth and Evan; Christopher Mintz-Plasse was Fogell, better known as McLovin; and Emma Stone played Jules. Seth Rogen and Bill Hader appeared as Officers Michaels and Slater. Here’s a role-by-role look at representative work after the 2007 comedy, based on a cast roundup updated January 10, 2026—not a complete filmography.

What is Superbad about?

Released by Columbia Pictures in 2007, Superbad follows high-school friends Seth and Evan as they try to get liquor for a party before they leave for college. Their plan involves Fogell, who adopts the fake identity “McLovin.” Sony’s film page identifies the principal character and actor pairings and lists the film in digital, Blu-ray and DVD formats: Sony Pictures’ Superbad page.

Bloomsbury Publishing’s 2025 product page for Andrew Buss’s I Am McLovin: How Superbad Became the Biggest Comedy Hit of its Generation reports a $20 million production budget and $170 million in worldwide earnings. Those figures are publisher-reported on the book page, which does not name an underlying box-office database. Bloomsbury’s book page describes interviews with cast and creative team members.

Where are the Superbad cast members now?

The credits below are representative highlights reported in a Us Weekly cast roundup updated January 10, 2026. They show different directions in the performers’ careers; they should not be read as each person’s latest project.

What Seth Rogen has said about making Superbad

In a June 13, 2026 report, TheWrap quoted Rogen reflecting on the film’s production and on what he sees as greater studio risk aversion today. Speaking on The Interview, he said: “When we made that movie, they bought our script, they hired a director, they said it would have a $20 million budget and it would start shooting in August or in April of that year.” He continued: “That would never happen today in 100 million years.” These are Rogen’s views about the industry, not a universal finding about studio practice. Us Weekly also recapped an August 2007 Entertainment Weekly interview in which producer Judd Apatow described audience reaction to the film’s humor. Apatow said, “I thought that when we showed Superbad to audiences, we would start an ongoing debate about how dirty [the movie] should be.” He added that at the first screening, “nobody in the audience had any issue with anything in the movie in the numbers that would make you change it. I couldn’t believe it.” The remarks are Apatow’s, from the earlier interview as reported by Us Weekly. Us Weekly’s cast roundup and interview recap.

Where to revisit the film or learn how it was made

Sony lists digital, Blu-ray and DVD formats on its official Superbad page; availability and editions can vary by region and change over time. For production history, Andrew Buss’s I Am McLovin is a 2025 paperback published February 18, 2025 (ISBN 9781493079827), with interviews with cast and creative-team members, according to Bloomsbury Publishing.
