Jason rules Casterly Rock and has a son, Loreon; Tyland serves the crown and is described as having no wife or children. Centuries later, Tywin Lannister’s children are Jaime, Cersei, and Tyrion. The broad succession connects these eras, but the available genealogy does not establish every parent-child link between Loreon and Tywin—so the tree below marks that gap rather than guessing.

Tyland Lannister is Jason’s twin, not a documented ancestor of Tywin. The sources describe Tyland as having no known spouse or children.

Jason and Tyland: twin brothers, different roles
Warner Bros. Discovery’s season-two character descriptions identify Jason as Lord of Casterly Rock and Tyland as his twin brother. In the Dance-era story, Jason holds the family seat while Tyland serves the royal government. Their shared family name does not mean they have the same place in the documented succession: Jason has a named son who inherits, while Tyland is described as childless.
Jason’s branch: Johanna and Loreon
Jason and Lady Johanna have a son, Loreon. After Jason dies during the Dance of the Dragons, Loreon succeeds him at four years old, and Johanna acts as regent while he is a minor. These succession details come from the wider book-canon history summarized in A Wiki of Ice and Fire’s Lords of Casterly Rock entry; they should not be mistaken for a complete on-screen genealogy.

Tyland’s branch: service to the crown
Tyland’s career is at court rather than through a known line of descendants. The reference account lists service as Master of Ships, Master of Coin, and later Hand, and says he never married or had children. It describes his father as possibly Tymond, so that parentage is uncertain rather than a firm link in the tree. See Tyland Lannister.
How the family reaches Tywin
The recorded lordship of Casterly Rock continues through generations after Loreon. The succession reference identifies Tytos as inheriting in 244 AC and his eldest son Tywin as inheriting in 267 AC. It establishes the broad sequence of lords, but the genealogy available here does not enumerate the full parentage chain from Loreon to Tytos. Therefore, it is not safe to draw an uninterrupted father-to-son line between those names.

For additional book-canon genealogy, Westeros.org’s House Lannister genealogy provides a broader reference. The distinction matters: a succession list can show who held Casterly Rock without establishing every intervening parent-child relationship.

In the original-series context, Tywin’s children are Jaime, Cersei, and Tyrion. An HBO-credited 2011 family-tree infographic identifies their relationships. It supports this immediate family branch, but does not fill in the earlier gap between Loreon and Tytos.

What is confirmed, and what the tree leaves open
- Television character descriptions: WBD identifies Jason as Lord of Casterly Rock and Tyland as his twin in its House of the Dragon season-two descriptions.
- Wider book-canon succession: Reference sources record Jason and Johanna’s son Loreon, Loreon’s succession, and the later lordship succession that includes Tytos and Tywin.
- Tyland’s descendants: The Tyland reference says he never married or had children; it does not establish a descendant line from him to Tywin.
- Unresolved bridge: The full parentage sequence from Loreon to Tytos is not established by the cited genealogy references here, so the compact tree leaves it explicitly open.
