Kids Are Growing Up: A Story About a Kid Named LAROI is a 2024 documentary about Australian artist The Kid LAROI, born Charlton Howard. It follows his musical journey from his upbringing to global fame, with the film’s catalog description also identifying adulthood, mental-health struggles, first love and grief after mentor Juice WRLD’s death as themes. Those are the film’s stated subjects—not a verified checklist of lessons or conclusions.
What does the documentary cover?
Sony Music Canada describes the film as chronicling LAROI’s life and music journey from his upbringing to his rise to fame. Its March 1, 2024 announcement calls it a film that “chronicles LAROI’s life and musical journey from his upbringing to his global rise to fame.” Sony Music Canada’s announcement supplies the distributor’s framing.

Apple TV’s catalog synopsis adds the themes of growing into adulthood, fame, mental-health struggles, first love and the death of Juice WRLD, a mentor to LAROI. These details indicate the life experiences the documentary sets out to address. Without a transcript or scene-level source, they should not be treated as proof of particular events, a complete account of his life, or a definitive set of lessons.
What can viewers take away?
The most supportable takeaway is about the film’s scope: it presents LAROI’s career as part of a broader personal journey, connecting his upbringing and musical development with fame, relationships, grief and mental health. That framing invites viewers to consider the human experiences behind a public career, but the available descriptions do not establish exactly how the film develops those ideas or what conclusion it asks viewers to draw.

The title also echoes “Kids Are Growing Up (Part 1),” a song Sony Music Canada identified in 2023 as a single from the forthcoming project The First Time. The song had first been previewed in LAROI’s Wild Dreams Fortnite Island Experience. That release history connects the phrase to his music rollout; it does not establish that the documentary adapts the song. Sony Music Canada’s 2023 announcement provides that context.
Who appears in the film?
Sony Music Canada confirms interviews with The Kid LAROI and music-industry peers including Justin Bieber and Post Malone. Apple TV lists additional people in its cast and crew metadata, including family members and people in LAROI’s working circle. A catalog listing is not, by itself, confirmation that every listed person appears in an interview or has a substantial role.

Where was it released?
Sony Music Canada announced that the film became available on Prime Video on February 29, 2024, in more than 240 countries and territories. Is there a content advisory?
The BBFC records strong language, suicide references and dangerous behaviour. Its advisory says verbal references to suicide are followed by discussion of professional help and therapy. This information may help viewers decide whether the film is right for them; the documentary is not a substitute for mental-health advice.
