Sting’s “2025 or Never” was not a concert tour or a final run of wrestling matches. It was the name attached to his final year of convention and fan appearances in full wrestling gear, including his signature war paint. He said he would still make appearances afterward, just not in that attire. The announced itinerary ended December 20, 2025, in Pittsburgh.
What “2025 or Never” meant
In January 2025, Sting said that the year would be his last appearing at conventions in full gear. F4W/Wrestling Observer reproduced his statement: “I have enjoyed meeting fans at events around the world. As much as I have loved interacting with you all in the traditional Stinger war paint, I’ve decided that 2025 will be my last year appearing in full gear. I guess it’s 2025 or never. Wow. Tough to speak that out.” F4W/Wrestling Observer
The phrase set a limit on one version of meeting fans: Sting in the complete wrestling presentation. It did not mean he was retiring from all public appearances. His statement left room for appearances after 2025 without the full gear.
Why this was not his final in-ring season
The convention farewell came after Sting’s final in-ring match, but the two milestones were separate. A March 2025 report said that match had taken place at AEW Revolution in March 2024. His 2025 announcement concerned conventions and full-gear appearances, not a return to competition or a new wrestling match schedule. Fightful

How the fan thank-you theme emerged
Sting’s January statement began by saying he had enjoyed meeting fans around the world and loved interacting with them in his traditional war paint. That makes the announced deadline feel like a farewell to this particular fan experience, though it was not a declaration that he would stop meeting fans altogether.
After a WrestleCon appearance, Sting posted a brief “Thank you, WrestleCon!” according to Fightful. It is a clear, event-specific expression of gratitude—not evidence that every stop was presented as a formal farewell. Fightful

A later report about an interview during the 2025 appearances described fans thanking Sting for what his character and wrestling had meant to them, with Sting expressing gratitude in return. The Spanish-language report renders his sentiment as “no hay Sting sin el público” (“there is no Sting without the audience”). That English rendering is a translation in a secondary account, not a verified transcript of his original words. Interview report

Sting’s appearance schedule changed as the year went on, so early date lists were snapshots rather than the complete itinerary. In August 2025, Fightful reported the final announced schedule, running from August 22 in Toronto to December 20 in Pittsburgh. It included stops in the United States and Canada and an appearance in Edinburgh, Scotland. The December 20 WrestleVerse Fest in Pittsburgh was listed as the final announced date. That schedule is historical now: every date in the reported 2025 itinerary has passed. The report establishes the final announced date, not an independently verified count of appearances completed or confirmation that each event went ahead as scheduled. It also does not establish a current 2026 full-gear tour.

What the farewell does—and does not—tell fans
- It was a final year for full-gear convention appearances. That is the specific boundary Sting announced.
- It was not a promise to disappear from public events. He said he would still make appearances, but not in full gear.
- It was not a new wrestling-match tour. The last in-ring match cited in the reports was at AEW Revolution in March 2024.
- The published final itinerary is not a verified attendance record. It identifies the last date announced in August 2025, not a confirmed tally of completed appearances.
