The actors behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power have described what they hope lies ahead for Nori, Míriel, Elrond and Gil-galad. Their comments are character hopes and interpretations—not announcements of Season 3 plot points. They spoke to James Whitbrook in an io9 interview published October 7, 2024, after Season 2 ended.
What the actors hope for in Season 3
Markella Kavenagh wants Nori to find peace
Nori leaves with the Stoors at the end of Season 2 to look for a new home, while the Stranger goes his own way. Markella Kavenagh hopes Nori can eventually stop feeling responsible for solving everyone’s problems: “I don’t think this is gonna happen to her for a while, but I do hope that Nori does get to a point where she can just not feel like she’s responsible for everything that’s happening, and really can just be at peace,” she told io9.
Cynthia Addai-Robinson hopes Míriel keeps her strength
Míriel ends the season in chains before Ar-Pharazôn, having sent Elendil away with Narsil. Cynthia Addai-Robinson described Míriel’s shared experience with Elendil as helping her grow, and hopes she holds on to her resolve: “It was important for her to have this shared situation with Elendil, I think it helped her grow as a better person, but I think that hopefully, she maintains that same sort of ‘Queen Energy,’ if I can say that, under the most trying of circumstances [in season three],” she said. Her remarks express an actor’s perspective on the character’s possible journey, not a confirmed storyline.
Robert Aramayo and Benjamin Walker see Elrond learning from Gil-galad
Robert Aramayo described Elrond’s crisis in the battle at the end of episode seven, when his command and tactics have failed: “There’s a moment [at the end of episode seven] where Elrond’s command of the army has failed, his tactics have failed, and he really is lost. He doesn’t know what to do,” he said.

In Aramayo’s view, Gil-galad steps in after Elrond’s approach fails, and the king’s decisions help shape the leader Elrond will become. Benjamin Walker framed Gil-galad’s approach as giving Elrond room to learn through mistakes: “But that’s a loving way to teach: to give space, to let someone make mistakes and to figure it out on their own.” The actors described a developing relationship in which each man has something the other needs; they did not confirm a specific Season 3 event.
Season 2 finale context (spoilers)
Season 2 ends with Eregion fallen and Sauron in possession of nine additional rings. Survivors from Lindon’s forces and Eregion gather around Elrond, Gil-galad, Arondir and Galadriel at a refuge identified in the io9 interview with the future Rivendell. The characters’ scattered circumstances set up the hopes the actors discussed: Nori and the Stoors seek a home, Míriel faces imprisonment, and Elrond must reckon with the failure of his command.

What is—and is not—confirmed about Season 3
The interview records what the four performers would like to see in their characters’ paths. It does not establish that Nori will find peace, that Míriel will follow a particular course, or that Elrond and Gil-galad will have a specified turning point. Treat those comments as expectations and character readings, not plot confirmation.
