Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist had only a few weeks to prepare for their televised wedding, but they said the planning became a family effort. Nist’s daughter Jen helped with decisions, Turner’s daughters were involved, and the couple settled on a Badgley Mischka gown and a black tuxedo for their January 4, 2024, ceremony.
How Gerry and Theresa planned the wedding
In a January 2024 interview with PEOPLE, syndicated by Yahoo, Turner and Nist described having just weeks to organize the wedding. Nist said her daughter Jen stepped in to help make decisions when the couple was unavailable, and that both families took part.
“I can’t say enough about how wonderful she’s been,” Nist said of Jen’s help. She also described the wider family involvement: “And then his daughters are involved, and my daughter’s talking to his daughters — it’s been a family event.”

Nist said she chose her wedding gown from options presented by Badgley Mischka. The interview reports this as her personal choice for the ceremony, not a recommendation of the designer.

Gerry Turner’s tuxedo
Turner said he and Nist talked about the look and chose a black tuxedo for a more formal appearance. “We talked one night, and we came to the conclusion that a black tux would look a little more formal,” he said.
Where and when the televised ceremony took place
Turner and Nist married at La Quinta Resort & Club on January 4, 2024, in a live televised ceremony. The Knot’s retrospective wedding coverage gives the venue and date and reports that the marriage lasted three months.

The Knot’s coverage describes Turner’s ring as a custom meteorite band and Nist’s as a diamond eternity band. It also notes vintage accessories worn by Nist. These are details reported about their wedding, rather than general guidance on selecting wedding jewelry.
