Who starred in Dark Angel?
Dark Angel aired from 2000 to 2002 and lasted two seasons. Its science-fiction story followed Max Guevara, a genetically enhanced young woman who escaped a covert military facility and joined forces with cyber-journalist Logan Cale in a post-apocalyptic Seattle. Rotten Tomatoes’ series listing describes the premise and dates; TV Guide’s cast list identifies the principal performers and roles.

What happened to the main cast?
Jessica Alba — Max Guevara
After Dark Angel, Alba continued acting in films including Fantastic Four, Sin City and The Eye, and in television projects including Spoils of Babylon and L.A.’s Finest. A retrospective published by kino.de on 17 August 2025 describes her as principally an entrepreneur associated with The Honest Company. These are selected milestones in that dated account, not a complete or real-time inventory of her work. kino.de’s 2025 cast retrospective has the broader snapshot.
Michael Weatherly — Logan Cale
Weatherly’s later television credits include JAG, NCIS and Bull. kino.de’s August 2025 retrospective also included NCIS: Tony & Ziva, describing it as due to launch in 2025. That wording reflects the article’s publication date rather than a current status update.

Jensen Ackles — Ben and Alec
Ackles played both Ben and Alec. His later career landmarks include Dawson’s Creek, Smallville, Supernatural, The Boys and Countdown, as listed in kino.de’s 2025 retrospective.
Where are the supporting cast now?
Valarie Rae Miller — Original Cindy
Miller’s portrayal of Cynthia “Original Cindy” McEachin made the character more than a sidekick: she was Max’s close friend and a prominent queer woman of color on a primetime series. In a retrospective interview with SYFY Wire, Miller explained why the role mattered to her: “I thought it was cool to have someone that was a lesbian at the time because they had never had a lesbian character on a primetime series that was a major character.” She also recalled network pressure and disagreements about story direction. Those recollections illuminate the creative tensions around the character; they should not be treated as a single, definitive explanation for the show’s cancellation. Richard Gunn and J.C. MacKenzie
Gunn played Calvin “Sketchy” Theodore. kino.de’s 2025 retrospective names Hemlock Grove, Granite Flats, Rust and Supercell among his later screen work. MacKenzie, who played Reagan “Normal” Ronald, later appeared in projects including Hemlock Grove, Vinyl, October Faction, The Irishman and American Fiction.
Other notable performers
The supporting cast also included John Savage as Donald Lydecker, Alimi Ballard as Herbal Thought, Kevin Durand as Joshua and Ashley Scott as Asha Barlow. These names represent selected cast members, not a complete update on every performer listed in TV Guide’s full cast directory.

Why did Dark Angel end on a cliffhanger?
The series’ second season ended without resolving its story, and there was no third season. Miller told SYFY Wire that the cast and crew were told the show had been picked up before receiving a reversal. A 2026 TVLine account also points to high production costs and declining viewership. The available accounts do not establish one cause as the sole reason the series ended, and Miller’s recollection of the pickup reversal is one part of a broader cancellation story.

In comments made during a 2024 Entertainment Tonight interview on the Trigger Warning press tour, and reported by TVLine in 2026, Alba said she would return if James Cameron wanted to make Dark Angel again. She added that it would be interesting to see where Cameron and showrunner Charles Eglee might take the story in light of advances in AI and technology. That is Alba expressing interest; it is not confirmation that Cameron, a studio or a network has approved a revival. TVLine reported Alba’s remarks and the cancellation context.

Why does the series still stand out?
Dark Angel combined a post-apocalyptic setting and a genetically enhanced protagonist with a close-knit community around her. Original Cindy’s visibility and Miller’s account of advocating for the character give the show a place in conversations about queer representation on television. Its unresolved finale also left a story that fans can imagine continuing—though Alba’s willingness to return remains an expression of interest, not a revival announcement.
