The four-season alternate-history drama shares Andor’s political concerns—surveillance, propaganda and the personal cost of rebellion—without sharing its science-fiction setting or style. BGR recommended the series to Andor fans in June 2025; check Prime Video in your region for current availability.
What is The Man in the High Castle about?
Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s 1972 novel, the series imagines a world in which the Axis powers won World War II. The United States is divided: Nazi rule dominates the East, Japanese rule the West, and a neutral zone lies between them. Propaganda and surveillance help shape daily life, while a film showing a different version of history challenges the regime’s account of reality. ComicBook.com describes the show as a four-season adaptation.

Why it may appeal to Andor fans
The connection is political, not cosmetic. Both dramas examine life under authoritarian systems and the difficult choices people face when they resist them. In The Man in the High Castle, characters try to survive, collaborate or keep their heads down; others risk their lives to challenge the official version of events. Resistance, covert operations and rebellion recur across the story.
BGR’s recommendation and ComicBook.com’s discussion of espionage and rebellion dramas point to that shared interest in resistance under pressure. The difference is the lens: Andor builds its struggle within Star Wars; The Man in the High Castle uses an alternate version of twentieth-century history.

What to expect before you start
- Setting: An occupied, divided United States rather than a science-fiction galaxy.
- Oppression: The series focuses on authoritarian rule, surveillance and propaganda.
- Resistance: Its story follows both covert opposition and the compromised choices of people trying to live under the regime.
- Format: The cited 2025 recommendation articles describe it as a four-season drama; it is not a new release.
If you want another space opera in the style of Andor, this is a different kind of watch. If the appeal was watching resistance take shape amid fear, compromised loyalties and competing versions of truth, the thematic overlap is stronger.
The book behind the series
Philip K. Dick’s The Man in the High Castle is an optional companion for viewers curious about the source material, not a prerequisite for watching the adaptation. ComicBook.com identifies the novel as the basis for the series and dates it to 1972.
